Do you ALWAYS wear a cup ?

If not , why not ?

Let's see how many crazy men we have out there.

seeing as to it won't let me vote, i'll just type it.

First off, any man playing lacrosse who doesnt wear a cup isn't really a man, and if he is he won't be for long.

Second off, i'm a goalie so its bascially suicide to not wear one.

LOL, great post, and great reply! i would always wear one, i'm a goalie in ice hockey and i wear TWO cups, and the people in my league can't even shoot as fast as they do in highschool lacrosse! lol, i agree, it'd be suicide, only for anyone to go out there freeballin'

You better believe I do. I've heard stories where cups have been broken in half.

I've asked a few younger kids, like 4th graders if they wear them and most say no. I asked coaches if they were required and they say no. Should or are they required for younger children. I would think so.

I have to agree with you guys. I wear mine ALL the time. The one time you don't will be the time you experience pain like never before.

I'm 36 and have 2 kids ....but I still want mine intact till the day I die.

I havent worn one since 10th grade. I took a shot in the cup, it shattered, and it hurt real bad still. I just decided that cups attract the ball and stopped wearing one. Havent been hit there since and im still plyaing, soph in college. i play LSM and defense.

i always wear a cup during games. i never wear one during pratices. and the only reason i wear a cup during games is because some teams play a little dirty so you've got to be prepared. and i am grateful since i took a shot to my nuts before and some kid shoved his shaft into them also. and i play D.

Not only do i ALWAYS wear a cup, but i have the SUPER CUP!!! It is a KOHO hockey goalie cup, it is made out of steel because when i was in eighth grade, i caught a shot (i am a keeper) in the junk, and it split my "normal" cup in half, which, somehow made the plastic part *pinch* on a very sensitive area (if you know what i mean). It was a bad time in my life, at least i can laugh about it now.... I did not, however, always wear a chest pad- i was (and am) an idiot... And no Chow, it doesn't count :jk

i have worn one once, but when your a middie i can't run as well with it on. I keep adjusting it and feel it ain't worth it. Maybe if i take a shot to the jewels i wil change my mind, just now i hate the way it feels.

wwlaxgoalie
07-02-2003, 07:04 PM
im a goalie so i need to wear a cup for my own sake. but i cant see what you wouldnt want to wear one even if u arent a goalie. But its up to the person and i dont think they should make a rule that u have to.

NoFx41Lax
07-03-2003, 04:42 PM
i dont usually wear one at practice but i do in most games. i wont wear one if it s a team that i know doesnt hit or if my balls are feelin bad that day

heres a story, my frosh year in highschool our team was new and we were about to play one of the better schools, until the game got postponed, cuz their goalie wasnt wearing a cup at practice took a bounce shot in the junk and completely destroyed his junk. after that everyone wore a cup for everything.

in a woman's opinion, guys should always wear cups. its part of the whole protection thing! also, my ex bf got slammed in the balls by a shot taken by an amazing attackman. lets just say my ex couldn't walk for the next 2 days, and sitting down was painful for him. a little discomfort could prevent you from becoming permemently injured

i got nailed once in the goods b/c of a fellow freaked out attackmen who hasn't played alot and he, well, freaked out and threw me the ball when i was screening the golie and 2 d-men checked my stick and i didn't even get a chance to protect myself... it was a long day after that

I just have to ask, WHY would you not wear a cup

lizlax22
07-05-2003, 12:17 PM
well the reason i don't wear one somethimes is i can move easier without one and the discomfort... plus this was camp and it was just a little catch game

RattlersVenom3
07-05-2003, 02:14 PM
I can understand not being able to move but i learned how and i can turn on the moves w/ it on w/out hessitation

there is no way i would ever not wear a cup. a friend of mine got hit with a shot and he didnt get up for 45 min. literally. i odnt care how uncomfortable it is. ill stand a little discomfort to be able to have children when i grow up.

Nope I don't wear one and I know I should I have only been hit once so hard that I was vomiting and almost passed out and I think I wore one for awhile after that but I really hate them .

i almost got decapitated once (and im not talkin about the head on my shoulders) by a defensemen with either poor hand eye coordination or a sick mind, and from that day on have ALWAYS worn a cup, and it has saved me numerous times

HATRICK
07-28-2003, 10:16 PM
I personally don't wear one, but I tend to run around with one hand in front of my balls. A guy I know had his destroyed and they had to sew the sack to his leg in order for it to heal.

mwn8989
07-28-2003, 10:19 PM
man one day your gonna b runin around playin lacrose and your gonna get it just sliced straight off cuz ur not wearin a cup, do yourself a favor and get one, its the best 10 bucks you can you spend...

You Have to wear a Cup

mb5
02-15-2004, 01:45 PM
I wore a cup for the first day of practice when i started playing in third grade- keeping a long story short i havn't worn a cup since, and i have take a couple stick jabs and stray gb's to the plumbing but it all still works..... plus since im usually on crease i just prop up the goofy attackmen in front of a shot- makes for a fun shouting match between players

Dan
02-15-2004, 01:46 PM
well, it's a lot more uncomfortable to not be wearing a cup and take a hit, so i take the safe road. it's like a seat belt.

i just bought compression shorts so i always wear one now.

I won't wear one if I'm on attack, but D and Goal and I always have one on.

Took a shot 2 inches to the side once while playing D and I wasn't wearing one. Decided to wear one all the time, except on attack.

if you dont wear a cup you obvoisly dont know the pain in geting hit in the balls, so i prefer you wear one

Live4It
12-29-2006, 09:11 AM
I do most of the time, I do because it's easier to concentrate, if you know what I mean, like when I'm not wearing one I kinda worry about them, but with one I'm protected in that area so I feel safe, its kinda confusing but I'm sure someone knows what I mean. Also when I don't wear one, is when they get hit, like I got a defender's stick right into my boys, no cup.
Same thing I posted in the other cup thread.
Also I don't wear one to every practice, but like 87.4% of them, and 99.9% of my games.

Meh, I'm indifferent.

If anyone's foolish enough not to protect something that may never heal right against an obvious risk, I don't want them reproducing anyway!

It's not even that you're going to take a full crankshot there.....think about what might happen if you get knocked on your arse, and the ball comes loose between your legs. An opposing defenseman could pick up three loose balls on the same play :jawdrop:!

i never wear a cup, i dont wear it because after spends months and months in football pads in lacrosse ill take my chances and let it all hangout

i only wear it sometimes in games (usually i dont) cause its harder to sprint. But never in practice.

My friend did take a full crankshot there, haha sucks to be dmen.

I often don't wear to practice, when I know I should. But I will wear it to a game everytime, because I've been hit there with a Ti shaft 4 times in a row as I was going down, worst pain ever.
