Ok here goes I have used all sorts of stick and shaft combo's for box lax but have yet to hit upon the perfect combo. I am wondering what some of you are using?

Currently my box sticks have soft mesh, with a pinch to the neck.

I am using a STX Viper and also a Brine Cyber. I am using these two because I got the heads free and just put them together. The Cyber is pinched and real stiff yet I seem to like the Viper better?

Heres the real question do any of you hate the offset sticks in box?

I think my box sticks are illegal for the field game for sure LOL

The only players that hate off-set are those that grew up playing with wood-sticks. (How can you hate off-set?....it lets you string a 3-4" pocket so you can shoot, while you can and cradle as if its a 5-6" pocket!)

STX Powerplay and Mohawk (Mission and Mach 1) are popular where I play. Gait/DB are widely used as well. There's a bunch of pinched Edges as well.

I am not saying I hate offset. I just notice a lot of players in the Box Lax game not using offset sticks. I have only been using offset sticks and was looking for a better box only set up. The STX head you mentioned I have seen and may try.

Thanks for the info

You can't go wrong with a wood stick playing on D or in goal.

I dont play box that much since i play field in VA, but this will be my setup next year in college.

STX Powerplay w/ hard mesh and three shooters
Chilly wood shaft from comlax
Warrior End cap

Total cost $65.00

Not bad for a box stick. I'll probably get rid of all my other sticks besides my poles

finalizer, pinched with mohawk box ti, mission with mohawk box ti.....looking for penitrator or revo pro with a mohawk box ti for 2005...

the mohawk ti had the old school sharp corner octagone shape i love, i am not a nig fan of the 803 and warrior krypto indented corners and etc....

plus the thing is kinda heavy, but takes crosschecks for sure and is relatively inexpensive compared to warrior and stx's versions and it look the same

What's with using wood shafts in box?

Fat boy with a G-force.

Screw the Fatboy, Mohawk Ti is 95% as tough, no heavier and costs about 1/3 as much ($50 CDN).

Wood's an option too if you play D....nothing inflicts pain like wood, and at only $20 or so, you'll never break the bank!

As for the G-force - its a fine stick, I'd probably use it for field. However, in box your scoop does not need to be 6.5" wide, only 4.5" So, why not use use something even tighter than the G?

I actually meant the traditional wood stick for box. Defensive players use them because they are solid, unlike some other metal shafts that bend. Some goalies (like me) use them because they cover up more of the net than a plastic stick.

I like the thought of a woodie for defense.....you get to poke and slash with a wooden head as opposed to a plastic one. Cross-checks sting a little more too!

I've got a Mitchell Bros. (Mohawk) box woodstick, but the days where a guy like me can use it to its potential are gone (I'm 30 years old and now playing masters league + light contact pickup only).
