It's different with everyone, some people have different reactions to it, my buddy started to use it and he had an allergic reaction on his face to it, but others have given very good reviews on it.
But I've never had to use it cause i never really get acne.

I tried it, and it kind of cleared it up but it made my face really red and sensitive. Not a good tradeoff when you can just get some Neutrogena stuff that works great. Thats what I used, and I've had no problems.

Yeah, it really isn't that effective. I mean it keeps down on massive breakouts and the big tumor ones, but you still usually get the smaller stuff like black and white heads.

Eh it didn't do much for me. Granted I never did it everyday consistantly. That would be my problem. I'd rather just take a pill and have it go away.

Exactly, Accutane > All.

Yah but accutane messed me up when I was younger. I had bad depression using that. Granted add accutane and puberty and all and I think it's bad. Accutane now though is great.

Yeah, they didn't put me on it until I was 17 years old, and I had no problems. I know it is a huge concern though.

Yah I should of waited. I was 15 I think when I had it. It was all sorts of trouble but my skin was definitely clear.

its hit or miss. I've known people who have used it who have loved it, cleared their skin up right away, etc; and i've known people who its made the acne worse and messed up their skin.
the only way you can find out is to try it.

hah thats the funniest thing i've heard in awhile. my friend used that stuff over the summer hoping for it to clear up before school started and it made it worse for him.

it works pretty well, but after you use it for a while, your face gets used to it so if you dont use it for a day or two, you break out

I use some other similar type system. Basically, as long as you do it once a day, consistently, with very rare breaks, of no longer than 1 or 2 days, it clears it up after 2 weeks or so to a much clearer face. The thing is sometimes outbreaks come and go, and you do have to be consistent like I said. It isn't a cure, but it will keep the acne (I like to use "blemishes" like my mom does, its not as harsh as acne has come to be) from being too bad, and after a while things are great.
Just don't stop for too long, cause like everyones said, you might be surprised what can happen in 1 or 2 missed days. It could take a whole week or more to fix any breakouts from even such a short period of time.
I don't like pills though, cause I get sunburn, and that is annoying when you get it all the time cause you have to be outside for either work or sport, and sunblock always comes off when I sweat cause I lose a lot of water fast, and get completely soaked. Plus pills don't work after a month or so (As long as it isn't ultra intense acutaine - which I've never had thank god. Friend of mine could barely go out when temperatues went down cause he always go nosebleeds. ), so whats the point?
I use Acne Free - severe; has some sort of ultra moisterizer that really works.

Is proactive better than clearasil?

dont bother with all these things, proactiv kinda worked for me but i still had alot of acne. Ive been on accutane at the lowest dose for a month now and have little to no new acne and all the old stuff is healing now. Accutane is amazing.

it works well for kids with some acne. But if you have lots,it usually isn't strong enough.

It all depends, just get an appointment with the Dermatologist. They just gave me a ton of free samples so I wouldn't have to buy the prescriptions. Took like 15 minutes and was pretty much free. Proactive is expensive

It really depends on the doctor, some love to prescribe it, others don't like to use it at all. More than likely they won't give it to you if you don't have it bad though.

how bad is your acne? because of the risks involved in taking accutane with depression and other mood related side effects some dermatologists will only reccomend accutane to people with moderate to severe cases. I didnt have tons of acne covering my entire face but just here and there, they put me on it about a month ago now. It got a bit worse at the start and now its allmost compltley gone :)

I think my body builds up like an immunity for this kind of stuff. It worked well at first for me but then it just kinda stopped.

Because of genetics I have a very oily face consistently. I use Clearasil Face Wash and benzoyl peroxide cream. It keeps your face clear, other than blackheads. My face is still oily all day so I might have to try accutane

Same here, every medicine I use works for about a week but after that it doesn't do much, if anything at all.

i remember watching something on the news for proactive, where they tried the proactive system, the prescription stuff, and some oxy. (all of them in the 3 step system). after 4 weeks of regular use, everything turned out the same. long story short, proactive has the same active ingredients as the stuff thats over-the-counter. plus, it is way more expensive that the things that are over-the-counter.

What I think is that the money for it is crazy. Now I used it for awhile and it helped to a certain extent. Now good things is that it never made my skin irritated. Examples being never dry or red. With all acne medicines it seems to my learning that it works very well for about a week and a half then seems to just be ok.
So what I think you should do is just get something cheaper that will do just as good or only a little less. After all a little acne is ok.

I dont trust it. Granted, I barely trust anything that involves a high-profile celebrity on a shortened infomertial, but seriously...how do we trust actors?
But, I used that Clearasol and it worked fine...I dont think I have pimples anymore. Maybe its because I put it on too much
i take some pill..and use some prescription crap in the shower for face and shoulders...and every so often i use clearasil ultra face crap..and i never have/get any pimples...sorry i cant be more descriptive.

It's really a big waste of money but I don't pay for it so i still use it the face mask works really well but if you don't use the regular proactiv twice a day seven days a week it will get worse because you skin is used to the blocking of the nuerotoxins inside the skin or something like that.

So....even if you skip one day your face'll turn into a pepperoni pizza?
