hey guys, i know its bad to spin your stick when on the field and i recently broke the habit but i have a question about it. sometimes in MLL or college teams warming up you'll see them spin the stick when the catch, does anyone know if the are spinning it towards them or away from them?

Does it really matter? It's a horrible habit, you know it from your own experience, so why does it matter if someone in the MLL spins clockwise or counter-clockwise?

I am NOT trying to encourage this horrible habit, but i am just trying to help you out. When players usually "spin" their stick, it is usually counter-clockwise, and clockwise, that is why it is a habit, because you do it naturally, without thinking about it.. You don't want to do this though, it is probably the WORST habit to have.

spinning your stick just makes you look stupid on the field. if you have the habit, get rid of it asap. college coaches can gauge a lot aboutt a player watching how they hold themselves on the field, and spinning your stick doesnt look too good.

Honestly, it's not that bad of a habit (generally speaking). unless you literally spin the stick as the ball gets to your pocket; that's a big NO NO. a lot of players use it as a trigger; they will do it right before a dodge, etc...

back in the old days... spinning the stick was actually used to help with learning stick skills... but that's when we had straight heads....

just remember, never spin your stick when you are catching, and you should be fine...

as far as college coaches are concerned, they could give a rip

I dont want to sound like everyone else who posted here but... why does it matter? Just be thankful that you broke a horrible habbit. Like greenshoelaces said, its prefrence on how you spin your stick becuase you usally dont think about it.

umm yeah im gonna sya it counter clockwise. and spinning your stick every here and thei is alright, but if you doit ALL the time when running, dodging and all that crap, BAD IDEA!! sometimes i spin my stick if i just broke away and am running the field on a clear(like cradle, big spin of the stick, hard to explain with words, but tis not that fast spinning crap.) and sometimes before a crank shot.

the stick is usually spun towards you

If I spin my stick, which i do when I'm bored, or as a way to bring the ball to the center of my pocket on some difficult catches, I usually spin towards my body. I can't say for sure, but I think its more common that way, rather than to spin away from your body.

Spinning is really bad when someone does it all the time, like as they run, before they throw, etc.
