I've run in to a problem with my US Lax registration. I moved from Pittsburgh, PA to Windsor, ON last year and have continued refereeing in Michigan. Unfortunately, US Lax won't allow me to register anymore because I no longer have a US mailing address. Specifically, their insurer refuses to cover me for liability -- even though all of my officiating occurs in the US. Has anyone else run in to this problem? I thought there were some BC guys involved with the game in Washington, but have had no luck with the membership department. It doesn't affect me terribly as I'm still insured for HS games with MHSAA and NASO provides coverage for youth games. However, I"m concerned because I'm hoping to move up in to the college ranks in the next few years, and I know I'll be required to have my US Lax card at such time.

Have you spoken with US Lacrosse directly, or just tried to register online?

Spoke with the membership dept a few times last spring. They said the insurer wouldn't cover me w/ a Canadian address. While I realize I could avoid this by using a US address, I don't want to end up in the lurch if I actually have a claim made against me.

Have you tried speaking with the insurer directly? They may have internal flexibility that USLax is not aware of or is unauthorized to offer.

Perhaps you can show proof of insurance from NASO to USL and have them give you an insurance waiver to sign so that their insurer is not held liable. There should be a way for this to get figured out.
