my select goalie had the edges of his face mask bent outward so they flared out sort of like a catchers mask, j/w if thats legal or not?

Yeah, it's legal. It generally happens naturally to goalie facemasks (steel in particular) after taking a lot of direct shots.

yes many of our goalies have similar problems but just make sure its on tight to the helmet-

Yep, defenitley legal. John Marr the legend did this to his masks purposely to take up that much more of the cage.
