Wow, if anything, I think it covers MORE space than a woody! What is going on!

and by the way your son seems very tall at 15 what is he like 6'5?

Very nice! Those Boddam shin guards are Huge as well!
I'm fronting a wider goal here. That 4x4 looks tiny! :)
Here's the pics I took for my review comparing on my backyard goal. I have shin guard envy!

The Wall does cover more space than a woodie, it's the same at the bottom but then doesn't narrow as quickly.
The Wall does have a little flexability, not too much compared to other plastic sticks

well, looks like i have a new investment to make this winter
so is your son still in midget and if so will he by trying out for team BC this year?
What team does he play for? I am fairly certain that Team Megaman doesn't play in Victoria.

hehe, yea, there's no MegaMen here in Eire.. ;-)
I traded for the jersey while at the Prague box tourney a couple years ago. It's the only one I have that fits over the Brown CP.
Plus, I'm not nearly as huge as Vimoose's kid. I'm 5'9", so Cory's nearly a foot taller! :-)

Funny! The megaman shirt was actually mine. You must of traded with a kid from the Dublin team. I traded it to him for a Riggers hoodie. Megamen are a team out of Boston consisting of ex college and NLL players. Mike Ladaceour (former Albany player) and Randy Fraser (former Buffalo player) are among some of the guys. Below is a picture of me from that tournement before I traded the jeresey away.

Nice, that was me! (I live in Dublin, Riggers #23) We were back last year and are planning on heading out again this year, as well as hitting up the tourney in Sweden right about that time. You guys coming out again? It's always a craicin time with the bean-town boyz..
At least you know your old jersey's getting some good use. :-) Small world eh?

Vim and Donnie,
I have been using the wall for about a month now. The one problem I had was that in my stance (I'm right handed) the left bottom edge opens up. As you probably know woodies are angled for a right or left handed keeper. I have solved this problem by shaving off about a 1/2 inch on bottom right corner. The stick now lays flat. It is probably not recommended by warrior but the area is so thick that structurally the head is still sound.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing hoff. Only issue is I left all my power tools back in Seattle when I moved out here a couple years ago! Working on borrowing a power sander from a buddy this weekend.
I had bent my shaft a bit to try and compensate, but that feels a bit odd when I go to pass. Shame they haven't approved the full review i did a while back..

my only thought about shaving the head would be it probably nulls the warranty, but after six months when the warranty is over..maybe. I am going to bend a shaft a few degrees and have my son try that. Woodies are usually angled a few degrees so why not try that first ?

i know for a fact that voids the warranty, and besides, all you need to do is put some weight on it
if a wood stick will bend, plastic will no problem
and Vim, so long as we in NB get our midget team, I hope to see you and Cory in Calgary next summer

Yes, it does void the warranty but I was willing to take the risk. Bending the shaft does not work for me for several reasons. First of all being only 5'9" in my stance, my hand actually rests on the throat of the head. Secondly I prefer throwing with a straight shaft. I agree in a set stance shaving the corner is not necessary as proper weight on the stick flattens it out, but with quick passing by the opposing team, I find myself not in a set stance all the time. I am not saying this is a solution for every one, but for me it made a difference.

How thick is the knee padding in those Boddam leg guards? And how far across is it? Looks like a full 12" to me...

Cory was measured several times last year ( never penalized) and the Boddams are tagged #3 so they are legal according to the present CLA rules. If i recall the limit is 11 inches

Okay Vimoose didin't get a Wall, Cory did but that's sweet. Thanks for the comparative pictures. My son is still playing minor, how does the weight compare to other plastic heads? Is this head going to be too much for a minor player to handle?
How tall is the head at the screw?
vimoose
11-17-2007, 12:09 PM
The screw is just under 24 inches from the ground . The stick is very light compared to a woodie and feels a few ozs heavier than a standard field goalie stick. I think any kid from Bantam age up ( or a big Peewee) can probably handle this stick. The biggest adjustment Cory has had to make is throwing, due to the weight difference from his woodie he was overthrowing the ball . After a few sessions with it he is throwing the ball better ( and farther) than he could with his woodie. He and a couple of shooters are finding that even though the Wall doesn't sit flat the wall is heavy enough that cheap goals going in as a result of the small plastic stick twisting don't happen. This stick is definitely worth the $175.00( Can) and that includes the shaft.

the rule for the knee is 11 inches, but if you dont tighten the straps the knee is 14 inches wide, i measured mine and found that they were illegal by not tightening the knee
and where did you buy your wall from? they sell for 160ish on sportstop.com

Under ILF field rules, the Wall would be LEGAL since goalie sticks can have an inside width of 15" at its widest point.
It would be kind of awkward to use in field though.

Playin against that thing as an attacker, it was kind of intimidating at first actually. Then of course the goals were going in so that made it better, but when I first saw the wall i thought, wow that goalie head is huge.

funny you mention that during the summer months i play both box and outdoor summerleagues i got a wall earlier this month and have been using it for indoor all month i just recently tried it during outdoor and it is very awkward both on clears and making saves but effective and fun. low shots and bounce shots become incredibly easier
for indoor i dont have so much trouble with the head being tilted in my stance but i find as i am crossing the pipes i open the bottom section of my five hole up quite significantly

If you like the size of a wood stick, but the weight of a plastic stick, then by all means go for it.
Having said that, I found that it sits awkward in the stance, since the scoop is not angled for a right-hand or left-hand goalie.

that is by far the best jersey i have ever seen.
