Share your bad ref stories!!

Title says it, what was the most ridiculous story of a "bad ref"? We're all humans, no mistake can be blamed on any ref, just the human element, which I recently found out was highly flammable. Like hydrogen.

Here's mine:
In 5th grade, I was in a game, and I was playing middie. So our goalie makes a save and clears, only to be intercepted. I'm on the defensive side, and I take the guy with the ball. I get a yard sale, his stick literally goes flying. So he gets pissed off after he gets his stick and just DECKS me from behind, I get knocked down, the ref was about 10-15 feet away, staring at the play going on behind where this happens. Doesn't say a thing. Either his son was the guy who decked me, or it was a really bad senior moment, which would be strange 'cause he's in his ~30s.


If you are a referee and you read this and get a bad feeling because you made some mistake like this, please don't get mad. We're all just humans.


I seached "bad ref story" and only got 8 results, none of which had to do with this.

anyways,

a kid cross checks me in the neck so i slash his ankle when im on the ground and i get called for.

kid had the ball, i (all shoulder) checked him out of bounds. 5 minute lock in.

wel one time in 6th grade i hit a kid and it was clean and the ref (now one of my coaches) called unnecessary roughness he called it on me all game i evebtually got ejected

I hate these threads because most of the time it's an athlete's word against an official's word, and we don't get to hear the other side of the story, plus half of the "bad calls" turn out to be cases of the poster not knowing the rules.

For example, it doesn't matter if your hit was "clean" (i.e., not in violation of the IBC rules); if you hit the kid too hard it's still UR.

hes right. there have been threads like this, but invariably the users prove that they dont have any clue as to the rules of the game and then the mods delete the thread. i'm sure this one will be headed there eventually.
