unfortunatly for us, any and every dodge will be blocked some how, some way.
i agree with what you said, a good face or split dodge would be hard to stop.

Except for when I poke your stick into your nuts. Everything is defendable.

its not really what type of dodge, but how well the attack/middie does it. any dodge where the stick is completely hidden is probably the hardest to defend

that a major factor would be the abilities of the opponents and the ultimate mismatch that is created (skills &/or athleticism)? As a coach that's the first thing I teach my players (the read) and a primary focus of strategy at the start of every game.
Ive been beaten by every dodge and floored someone on every dodge. I think the hardest dodge to defend against is whatever the other guys favorite dodge is, chances are thats the one he works on the most and is the best at.

if he hides his stick well.....then we got to deck you.
A good split will beat me. It's only when I lose my focus, but when I'm in the zone, I'm nearly impossible to beat. I get beat in open field dodges, but back in the whole, I'm a lot tougher to beat because I know I have backup, but I don't like to use it. I'm trying out for U-17, and I'll need to have plenty of focus. Yee.

isnt this liek the first yr uve played defense raine
This spring was, but considering that I have four years of lacrosse under my belt, I know how to play defense and what I need to do. I made the transition very well and was better at D than mid about a week after I started.

Yea, I went from Offense through my 3rd - 6th grade year. I forgot to sign up for my club/travel team my 7th grade year though and was really pissed cuz i wasn't gonna be able to play and i got a phone call from my coach saying he needed a LSM and if I wanted to play it I could be on the team. SOOOO i switched to that and played that from 7th-10th grade. 11th grade I played between LSM and Close defense though I am much better at close. I love the crease. This year (12th grade) I will be playing close D until I screw up (as my coach told me) so this'll rock. You should be seeing us at states this year

yea, uhm... every deke is blockable if the defense has good footwork, what you need to do is just trick the defense out of good positioning,.. anyway a deke that always gets me is when they run right at me, well when the bigger people, run right at me. If you cant run over your d dont even try.

seriosuly, from experience the best dodge is the filalizer, aka quick cuts. since you keep changing directions he has to either back off or trip. either way you're getting by him.

Until he lays you out. Any dodge can be stopped thats the final straw. No ifs ands or buts.

Ive played with D-1 d poles in summer league and ive still rolled/dodged or jsut used my speed on them.

And I totally shut down mikey powell, put a few zingers past cattrano and chummed it up with the Gaits. I doubt you could be speedier than a D-1 longpole, unless you got the bottom of the barrel. Don't BS people. No one likes it.

You are apparently better-than-olympic standards. Ya all those people who train for their lives would be jealous of your innate running ability.

Ever heard of sarcasm? But yea I am naturally very fast and train a lot...
Can you not accept the fact that some people dont lie and are good at something?

it seems highly unlikely you can run a 4 minute mile and a 3.9 40 meter. i mean HIGHLY unlikely. the average kid these days (not counting the fat kids, no offense to any one) runs MAYBE a 7-8 minute mile. if you can run any thing under a 5 minute mile, i would like proof.

even if he can run a 4 minute mile, it is pretty much impossible to run a 3.9secon 40 because there are 2 different types of muscles.
1.) slow twitch fibre muscles, these are what those scrawny marthon runners have. This helps them run a 4 min mile becuse they're legs use up less energy allowing them to run fast laonger, hence 4 min mile.
2.) Fast twitch fibre muscles, these are the muscles sprinters/high jumpers have, this allows them to use the energy and leg power in their muscles in explosive bursts. This means they can run REALLY fast and jump high for short periods of time. Hence, 3.9sec 40.
It all depends on how you train and what month (how cold) you were born and what type of muscles your parents have all are factors in what type of muscles you have. Mind you, genetics only have 30% on what type of muscles you have. I'm out like Ron Artest

a 13.1 and a r:07 mile huh. Your facts aren't lining up buddy. Your one slow runner at the same time an amazing sprinter.

by the way, just because you are older does not make you faster. by saying "well that was in 8th grade im in 11th now" you are trying to trick us into thinking you'd be faster by now. that may not be the case. for all we know you could have gained 400 pounds (no offense to any one!) between 8th grade and now. go find a track, take a buddy, run a mileand get the time, do a 100 and get the time, record that info, and tell us. like i said, just because you are older does not mean you are faster.

..... Yea like i can run the mile in 5:07 while im 400lbs....I am most likely faster, size, condition, ect ect all effect my time....I didnt say my mile was that good in 8th grade tho...

read that a couple times over. you fall under the assumption that you said your mile was 5:07 in 8th grade. that's what i'm getting. plus i'm just saying that age doesn't usually effect running speed in the fact that the older you are the faster you run.
also if i'm coming off like i'm being a jerk, i don't mean to be.

it depends if your stick is up to pick off a pass or down to go 1v1

Ive run xc for the past 6 years. Age does matter in terms of growing and or hitting puberty. AS for running a 5:07 mile in 8th grade thats pretty remarkable. This year in states for Maine 7th place ran a 4:58 mile. My mile split in a 5k is slightly under 5:25. Ive never timed myself or been timed on a sprint or dash but i know im fast compared to kids on my team. And you can be a good sprinter and a sucky distance runner. For instance I could run a 5 min mile and run 1:15 400 which sucks alot. Its all about endurance

i'm not saying age doesn't matter i'm just saying age doesnt always HELP you run faster, it can also make you slower (taller, more weight to move around, etc).

i ran a mile in 6.25 when i wayed 230....now im down to 175 cuz of wrestling...and getting in shape, and i run a mile in 4.49...its not to hard, if ur on a track or going straight remember
Eh, my fastest mile is about 5 minutes or so, and I ran cross-country and track. And I have those slow-twitchers, I think. Because I'm not a very fast sprinter. Ya know. But, who cares?
I am easily beat by a split dodge. If it's a good one. By Corey Gunderson. I can't wait to play him this spring. I'm going to waste on him. Playing with him on Team Utah is one of the greatest things ever.
I don't think there is one singular dodge that is really hard to defend, if you listhen to what coaches have told you (hence why they are coaches). IF you are nagging someone the whole sprinting back to the hole keeping your stick on their hands they will rarely have the oppitunity to even dodge in the first place. As far as defending the different dodges I prefer to ride my man either down the alley if it is from up top or into the crease because defense is a job done by six people and you should have help from a slide. The dodge that I am having the most problem with right now is called a question mark dodge (not real sure about the name), Matt Ward uses it a lot and it is very hard to apply constant pressure and keep your stick on their hands.

i think any dodge is hard to beat if they are done right, so for me deciding which is the hardest is a tough-ie (sp? oh well...it's my spelling)

Guarding dodges depends on where you are on the field. Behind the net you can be more creative with your checks because you have some cushion. Above the net you have so be on top of it and play solid defense. You can go wildy throwing rusty gates above the net.
