in many games i play in, there are situations where im down by the restraining line and i come up to help the midfielder bringin the ball down, but i know my d-man is right behind me following. Most times right after i catch the pass from the middie i get leveled or somethin along those lines...any ideas on how to handle these situations better?

if it happens just catch the ball and quickly rool to one side,(your preference) but other than that, not too much you can do.

im a little **** out on the field and ive learned that if your about to get laid out turn your back. if he lays you out then its goin to be a foul. then there man down and that good for you.

if they dont they will try to slow there own inertia down so they dont run you over like a train and thats when you go to goal. there going to try to get you with there pole so keep the cradle tight.

as soon as you catch roll and get low as you roll. you dont only not get laid out, you burn him espeacily if he is trying to lay you out and over commits. thi is what i ussaly try to do, dosnt always work but most of the time it does. if it dosnt work and you get low like i said he will probally hit you in the head, and thats a penalty

...dude stfu, i had this problem for a while i got to where i didnot want the ball passed to me, but then i figured out if you kind of do a duck and roll you can get out of it pretty easy.. just ignore that duche bag that posted that.

push off the defender to get separation to make a good catch.

do a v-cut.....take a step into him and then push off the same foot and get as far away from him as you can, then catch the ball and toast him w/ a sweet move

People are missing the obvious problem with said situation. If you're just standing on the midfield line waiting for a pass, you're going to get leveled no matter what you do. To solve the problem, don't stand still. They teach you over the shoulder passes for a reason. Get away from the midfield line, unless it's a ground ball rolling away from the middies and towards you. If you get away from the line you will either pull your d-man with you, in which case it opens up a lane for your middie to go to, or your d-man will stay at the line and try to stop the middie/ball at the line, which leaves you wide open for a pass and a lane to the goal.

You should not be receiving a pass just idling by the midfield line with your defender breathing down your neck right behind you. If you can't get away from situations like that, forget about the ball and when it's close to you in the air (5 yards i think is the rule), turn around and level the defender. He won't know what happened cause he'll be expecting you to catch the ball so he can hit you. The tuck and roll, as state above, is also another good way to get out of the situation.

To reiterate, you should not be at the line waiting for a pass, especially when you're covered so tightly, period. Ground balls are the exception, in which case you hope for a loose ball push and just try to goose the ball into an open area so you or a teammate can get it.

Excellent reply above. DO NOT STAND STILL. Catch it on the move, get low and roll. Or fake a tep one way and go the other. Keep moving and keep your defender guessing. If you do get levelled straight in the back its a foul anyway.

watch your back if your getting a ball on the crease. if your playing an agressive goalie, youll be on the ground reeeaaaal quick
