Eclipse has been one of the top goalie heads for 10 years
Brine Eraser CP (http://www.lax.com/shop/item.phtml?page=product_6696_front.phtml)
great mid-profile goalie chest protector
Gait DB803 (http://www.lax.com/shop/item.phtml?page=product_2397_front.phtml)
popular goalie shaft. very light. makes a good combo with eclipse.

What about the Warrior Nemesis? Here is a review - http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=47319

why not just a goal master, warrior hypno goalie gloves, a kryptolyte/platinum alloy/ stx axe and what ever chest protector you want. Your just starting goalie you don't need a bunch of expensive stuff you just need stuff to get you by. If you like goalie buy better stuff but you don't need to start off with a bunch of brand new expensive equipment you might never use again.

even though he doesnt id still say go with one. goalmasters are solid heads for beginners and then you branch out from there.
my list
goalmaster or any of the other heads that you like
shaft - klyte, vitality, platinum, zirconium, vanadium
cp - the most important thing so try on and look at reviews....i recommend the supercrosse if you can get it
gloves - the rbk 5k are solid, so are teh hypnos or the choppers. if you want to step up protection a bit then go for the rbk 7k or defts or somethin like that.

Goalmaster? I hated that even when it was the only viable head in the game. Eclipse, for a beginner? Great passing, tough to get comfortable with ball handling.
Go for a Gait Sentinel or Nemesis (both good all-around) or Brine Eraser (good ball handling). Shaft- db803 is good, but not much grip. Harrow has good grip. I've become a fan of the STX Contender shaft for it's shape. For a beginner, consider getting the shorter women's version (no, there's nothing wrong with playing with a shorter shaft).
Chest protector- Stay basic. Warrior MPG Chest pad, not the MPG goalie guard, unless you plan on playing out of the cage a LOT. Or the Gait Sentinel CP, my personal fav.
Gloves- older gait Chaos or Insanity. Their newer stuff is ok, but not quite as good. Hard to go wrong with STX goalie gloves. Brine Defts have good protection, but an annoying wrist. Avoid the Warrior goalie gloves! No finger padding & bend-back thumb!

celtic laxer the reason why i suggested the goal master is because what if he absolutely hates goalie after a month there is no reason to buy top of the line goalie heads. Also warrior goalie gloves have the most protective thumbs out of any glove because of the steel reinforcement. STX goalie thumbs are pieces of plastic that are extremely thin, and gait goalie thumbs are not that much better. Remember this guy is a beginner there is no need to spend 300+ dollars not including a helmet.

dude, beginner? go to a used sports equipment store. play it again is good. and buy a cheap cp. stick though, go with the eclipse. any shaft really. depends on wat you have to spend cause they are expensive. you can save mad mullah by using a short pole
