I do not believe that I have ever made a weird save.

The worst goal I have let in was when I was new to lacrosse, I made the save on a shot and circled behind the net. I came up with the ball and went to make a pass to one of my players. The ball slipped out when I pulled the stick back and the attackman took the ball and shot it into the open net. I felt so stupid. But No one cared cause we were already loosing by then. (Think of what Chris Sanderson did at the Field Championships against USA)

my weirdest save was when i first started playing goalie and i was rockin the old rpm's with the wings on the wrist (gotta love those things) and ball bounced off the pole into the part of the gloves between the wrist pad and the wing and i couldn't find the ball. i got called for failure to advance, it was really retarded. the worst shot i let in was on a fast break and the shooter shot the 1 hole, and for some reason i dropped down on both knees to protect the five. i have no clue why, i was just being retarded, im still baffled by it, i dont know what i was thinking.

Weirdest Save - On a breakaway I got faked out of position. The shooter went for the open net. In desperation I pushed my butt end toward him. The ball hit the butt end and bounced right to a defenseman.
Worst Goal – Using a newly strung head I attempted to make a long clearing pass. When I pulled the stick back to start the pass, the ball rolled out of my head into my own net.

My weirdest save. Well, I have a very unique step and this one time I just went into butterfly stance on a low shot. I have no idea why, the guy was like 8 yards out and I just reacted. That save was possibly reallly instinctive, but it was probaly just realllly lucky. Worst goal I let in? I was pretty much sprawled on the ground after multiple crease shots then saves and some guy like dropped it in front of me and my leg was arched up. Slipped right through.

Because i was blinded by the dirt i actually went back behind the goal and was awarded possesion at the end line.
Worst-Ball went off my facemask and straight up into the air. I was looking around for it and it came straight down, hit me on the shoulder and went into the net.

best save: This fall i was 1 on 1 with an attackman with no d help coming, the crease was a literal puddle of mud and he managed to make me slip after about 5 fakes and as i was falling he went to drop the ball into the net and i somehow had the presense of mind to get my stick up and catch it.

Worst Goal: I leveled an attackman getting a pass on the crease and his stick sent the ball up about 10 feet into the air and then down into the goal.

I ref and see lots of goals.

Weirdest one ever was youth league, and the goalie was well armored with oversized pads of every description.

Bounce shot. Goalie ends up blocking it with his body, and the ball disappears from view. The crease is surrounded by 12 kids so I can't tell where the ball is, and the goalie whirls around looking in vain for a ball on the ground to clamp.

The whirling dislodges the ball from wherever it had stuck in his gear, and it flies into the back of the cage. Goal!

Now, you all must be furious with me right now because you empathize with the keeper and we all know that a ball caught in the keeper's gear is an immediate whistle and clear outside the box. However, if the ball goes into the cage before the ref determines that the ball is caught, it's still a goal. Just because I didn't SEE the ball was not enough reason to blow it dead within a second of the save. That's hasty. So the goal counted, and both the keeper and I felt pretty silly.

The moral of this story to step away from the mouth of the cage and move slowly if you suspect that the ball has disappeared into the folds of your uniform. Give the ref a second or two to come to the same conclusion. If you're confused, count on your official to be as well.

Weirdest: Started from top left, to top right, the mid left, guy cuts in, fakes and passes, I slide across doing a split (I'm not flexible at all), and save it. Ball hits off my cup, and goes out. i'm in a lot of pain, so I'm laying there cause I can't get up, and stick my feet up in the air. A kid rips a shot and hits my foot. Then it's cleared. This all happened in about 5 seconds.

Worst: I got completely fooled by a shot a kid took. We were facing a good team, and one kid took a huge wind up and took the slowest shot on Earth, I was caught way off balance.

WORST: Anyone who's dropped a save into the net, feel better. That same first season, we were winning by 1 with 8 seconds left. Other team gets the ball, dodge, shot straight at my stick. I saved it, but with my back to the game clock, I didn't know how much time, so I went to chuck it upfield. It rolled out of my stick & into the goal with 1 second left to tie the game. I had to make 6 saves in OT. It took us until the second OT to get the ball into their offensive zone, and scored about 3 seconds later.

That was my high school's first win EVER! So don't feel bad about a drop-in- it could DEFINITELY be worse!

I just had a weird one the other day. We were doing 3 on 2's and our varsity captain got a pass about 5 feet in front of the crease. He pushed to the left side of the crease all alone and I had him covered up high so he went behind the back/ over his opposite shoulder. Save 1: I was playing goalie and the kid whipped a shot and I stepped into and I heard it hit my head. I was looking around and after about 10 seconds, I realized that it got stuck in my facemask.

Save 2: I was playing Defense and my goalie ran up the ball. He dropped the ball so I jumped between the pipes. I crouched down as the kid shot it and it bounced about 30 yards back to midfield off my helmet and I got knocked backwards into the net.

Save 1: I was playing goalie and the kid whipped a shot and I stepped into and I heard it hit my head. I was looking around and after about 10 seconds, I realized that it got stuck in my facemask.

Save 2: I was playing Defense and my goalie ran up the ball. He dropped the ball so I jumped between the pipes. I crouched down as the kid shot it and it bounced about 30 yards back to midfield off my helmet and I got knocked backwards into the net.

Also sometimes I forget and stop it with my hand. My worst one was when I threw it to the other team and I jumped (because I was out of the net) and it my stick. Weirdest save: I'd definitely have to say actually it was yesterday in my warmup I was taking regular speed shots and I stopped on by stepping on it. It didn't even like jiggle around after I stepped on it or bounce out from underneathe my foot just straight down onto the ball and stopped.

Worst goal let it: Some loser attackmen got a pass from X right to the top left of the crease so I went from hugging the right pole to practically diving to the top left of the crease knowing the only chance I had of saving the shot was smothering his head with mine. The hot must've hit something because I whip over to face the goal while I'm almost completely on my chest and it's rolling in real slow just about to the goal line so I go to stop it with my stick but I couldn't quite reach the ball. I was probably only 3 or 4 inches away from stopping it but it just rolled in nice and slow...

weirdest- I went out of the goal with the ball and got body slammed (in girls lacrosse) and did a complete front flip. By the time I got up they were runnin back to the goal so I ran and threw my goalie stick into the crease. The ball went straight into the pocket and the stick flipped to cover the ball. Then i just trotted in and picked it up for a nice little clear.

Worst- my throat guard had come unbuckled in the mid, and they launched a hard shot at me. It got stuck in the guard and stayed there. I didnt know where it was, so i turned into the goal to scoop it out and scored on myself cause my head went past the line, that was retarded.... cause i had saved it and then scored on myself...

I have two weirdest saves. One was a couple years ago on a cold october day... about 35 degrees... and it was drizzling, so i had my coach go get me hot chocolate from the marathon across the street. So I was drinking my hot chocolate in my left hand, my helmet proped on my forehead, and my stick in my right hand. The other teams best player got the ball and shoots it to my lower stick side. I was on the side of the net at the time so i dove stick first... spilling my hot chocolate (owww)... and saved the shot. the other one was today when this kid shot a ball and it went INTO MY JOCK STRAP! i didn't get it out for like 30 secs.

My worst goal let in is when i was clearing a ball and it fell out the back of my stick... if that wasn't bad enough when i turned around i kicked the ball into the goal.....

Weirdest...Well my defense like to stand right on the crease for no reason so i am screened a LOT. but anyway some kid rips a shot from the restraining line and my D like jumps out of the way and i had no idea where the ball is so i just jump to the ground for some random reason and saved it with my shin.

Saves: -Pad stack, old school hockey goalie style, in practice on a cross the crease one timer.
-Coming out to play a loose ball with a forward chasing it, I tried to kick it instead of picking it up and missed. The forward grabbed it and went to shoot into the wide open net but I managed to reach back with my stick and caught the ball just as he was shooting it. He got a good taunting from his bench as I cleared it.

Goal: -Practice, one of my forwards fakes several shots, then winds up like he's going to rip it before lobbing it slowly non-stick side.

weirdest: one time the attacker was running up to shoot (1 on 1) and when she shot to my top left instead of putting the head of the stick there, by my lefty instinct i raised my left hand with the shaft and punched the ball out.

Worst: it was a game against or rival school and they had one realoly good player he had the ball front center and my defensive middie wasnt on him but back like 5 yds screening me from the ball i yell green( green for screen) but he was knew didnt know our code the guy was winding up now as nobody was on himso i yell screen so i can atleast look at the fireball so i can actually make the save my middie doesnt react but the shooter does i react with the low left space block (you go to one kneelike you are doing lunges with stick betweenyour right thigh and left shin, it basically owns the entire left low area) which is where i think hell shoot as he has noone on him perfect angle so he might as well shoot where its hardest for me to stop but as i see the ball come over my d middies shoulder its top right i move my stick but i cant get off my knee quick enough( which is why you should only use this if you have no doubt or no option) my stick doesnt reach the ball and it goes in. i didnt get off the ground untill we lost the next face off. i wass so mad at myself.

I've spent about 20 years in goal from Junior High to old guy club lacrosse and I gotta say, its always an adventure living between the pipes.
Two Weird Saves -
1. A hard bounce shot that went under the throatguard and into my facemask. I pinned my chin to my chest and took off running. The ref called me for with holding the ball from play. Which is BS, I didn't put it there, I just played it the way it came.
2. I've pulled this stunt a few times, I make a save, the attack is riding the D hard and the middies are running with their back to the play, so I go charging up field screaming "Middie Back!" Somewhere along the way I lose the ball and the opposing team picked it up. So I jump in front of the ballcarrier, start backpedaling like Dieon Sanders in his prime and basically play it like a one on one situation. I'm not kidding, 90% of the time the opposing player thinks he's got an easy open net goal and ends up shooting it right into my stick.

Worst was a box game where the ball was basically rolling from midfield. I put my stick down to get it, looked up to see where I was going to pass it. Then the whistle blew and ref signaled goal. When I looked up, I picked my stick about 6 inches off the ground allowing the ball to roll under my stick, between my legs and into the goal. That was like 10 years ago and I'm still pissed about it!! Never take your eye off the ball!!! Never Ever!!

Weird save- Not really sure if "weird" is the right word. Probably "cool". But there have been a few times in practice where an attackman is on the right pipe and feeds it cross crease to an attackman near the left pipe. I've ran cross crease with my stick leading the way (like every goalie should do in that situation). However, I've held it underhand (with the head near the ground) and made some saves that way with my shaft. I've never tried that during a game, though, as I'm sure it's less likely to make a save, but it looks sweet when it does.

Worst goal-I was at a tournament last summer and made a save. The ball stayed in the crease right under my feet and I couldn't find it (as I'm sure all of you goalies can relate). Anyway, I still couldn't find it after a few seconds and turned to see if I could locate it behind me (near the goalline). After I lifted my foot and turned, I put my foot back down on the ground. When I did, it hit the ball straight on and I accidently kicked the ball into the cage.

In high school in 1975, a hard shot actually wedged between two bars on the front to my mask, and got stuck. The force pushed one of the bars into the base of my nose and I started gushing blood.

The really weird part was in the first second after the save because I was spinning around in circles trying to find the rebound before they blew the whistle.

It was hard to get the helmet off because the ball was wedged in against my eye socket.

I remember I was really pissed because the team doctor made me come out and stay out. We did win, my team was totally freaked, and I got the game ball.

another one was against douglas county when a kid came on my low right side and ripped a super hard shot to my bottom off stick side and somehow i got my stick to it but i wasn't holdin it tight enough so it spun my head around and the ball barely trickled in it made me so mad
