i just started playing lax about 3 weeks ago and they put me as their new goalie. I want to know if anyone has pointers i could use. I've found out that goalie is a hard postion but i have 2 problems i need help with.
1.) I want something for my shins and i don't wanna use my hard covered soccer shin guards.
2.) I have a problem with getting infront of the ball. It's just something in the bak of my head that prevents me from putting myself infront of the ball. Any way i could possibly stop this?
ANY advice would be helpful

the balls not going to hurt you, your wearing a bunch of padding, except for on your shins like you said. uhh, if you dont want to wear your shin gaurds either get used to it or buy goalie pants and go down so it hits your thighs? i have no idea.

See i think that the problem is that the other goalie won't turn his gear in and that leaves me with really no goalie gear. i have regular gear. i think that's wut is messing me up. and the throat guard hasn't came in yet.
But besides that, is there any goalie tips i should know? Cuz i just started playing and i want 2 get good and fast.
one question i have is where do i position my hands on the stick? i've seen where u hold it with one hand at the top and the other about 2/3 the way down. My coach is saying for me 2 hold it with both hands right next 2 each other at the top of the stick. Which way is better?

Everyone has trouble stepping/getting in front of the ball. Get goalie stuff before you step in goal, a chest protector at least. You'll regret it after you get hit in the stomach where your shoulder pads don't help. For shin guards, don't get them. You will realize you rarely get hit there, if youre going to play goalie your going to have to get used to getting bruised. Keep your hands separate. Check some of the goalie help stickies as well.

Watch the ball. Hold your stick out in front use your dominate hand as a rifle
sight. Step to the ball....ATTACK the ball. It goes against evrything your brain
says. Normal people duck 90+ moving objects. Getting hit is part of the game.
Wear the shin guards if it gives you more confidence. Get the throat guard asap!! If you don't have goalie gloves at least get those STX clips on thumbs.
Good luck.

90+ mph** he means.
Learn positioning in goal too, like where you should be when the ball is up top, right, left, behind goal, etc.
