I'm using an eclipse w/ reg hard mesh which is 20 diamond , i did the old school zig zag sidewall, and it's about 3-3 1/2 balls deep

I usually put an 8 pd or so dumbbell in my pocket to make it deep. No joke this works every time. The heavier, the better as long as it can fit inside your stick.

Yea but when you do this you should leave the bottom string out and put it in after.

does that make a decent channel? i used an 5 pd ankle weight on my last one, it made a decent pocket but no channel

you need to string a channel into a pocket, and if you got the pocket 3 to 3 1/2 balls deep then its about as deep as it can get

and regular hard mesh is 20d for goalies, 17d is 17d

wrong thread buddy

its not to hard to string a channel, its just in the way you do the bottom string
the easiest way to do it is to skip 2 or 4 diamonds in the middle of the mesh when you put the bottom string in, there are other ways but i need pictures to explain them

and regular hard mesh is 20d for goalies, 17d is 17d

other way around, 20d is 20d and 17d is regualr hard mesh. but can we get some of those pictures u talking about?

ohh, well i would suggest getting it restrung and then pounding it (glove pocket tutorial, search) and create a channel from new mesh it'll turn out nicely, 12d works amazing

i got tired of my reg hard mesh pocket depth, so i made it with an open sidewall and its pretty nice, good depth, and suprisingly good at throwing

When I string my stick, I wet it and wash it with shaving cream then wash it off. I let it dry for a bit then string it while it is still a bit wet. I string my stick up, pound it, and let it dry. Creates a nice deep channel every time. I have gotten close 2-3 balls deep each time.
