I have always been a big fan of the Torque, and I currently have on on a Liquid metal, and I was wondering... does anybody here have a DB803 Ice? Is it worth the purchase? Dents aren't a huge concern for me, I want a lightweight stick, and the TOS system intrigues me... so I guess this is also for crankshaft owners. Does the offset really improve your skills? I have plenty of money saved up, so I'm willing to spend.

No stick improves your skills...

Anyways, the offset on the shaft makes it so that the ball is more offset than if the head was just offset. This makes it so that when cradling, the force on the ball keeping it in your pocket is greater, making it harder to knock out(supposedly). Also, the release is different than if just the head is offset... I'm not really sure how though.

I think it gives more of a quick release. A lot of people had trouble getting enough whip in their cs's.

pockets tend to form higher as well

Ice comes in TOS... but I hate whip... as an X I want to get the ball out of there as quick as possible with some zip.

...my brother just bought a torque for thats non-TOS...so you could always buy that and put it on a regular shaft....

but my brother got the TOS anyways and flipped it so it has a wierd bend at the end for groundballs and shooting/passing...he likes it...but i think it's just wierd

Gait Silencer with a torque pro is my suggestion. If you ant light get any gait shaft. Strength go with the silencer.

the ice is my favorite stick, its real light. it will dent up pretty easy if you take direct checks to your stick, then again if you do you probably suck

yea ice is availible in TOS but id say that stick can improve your game(not skill) like i dont lik answers and evo pros bc i cant get ground balls with them but of the people that ive seen using the 10 dgree bend stuf theres been mixed results. our face off guy liked it but one of our middies hated it so id say its prefrence

i have the torgue pro on a thrust, the thrust shaft is crappy, and is already chipping. By chipping I mean instead of denting the plastic covering on the outside of the carbon just breaks leaving holes in the shaft. I don't mean huge holes that you can put your finger through, but places that its deep enough where you can see where the layers have broken. kind of like taking a chunk out of an onion with a spoon, but not cutting a hole all the way through

Yea, that's what I meant. But I already have a Torque Pro strung up and everything, so I'm just waiting to get a TOS shaft (I've set my mind on Gait.)

TOS or not, the shaft will not make you be a better player, its all in your skills, practice is what will make you good. Now, back to the ice. From my experience, it dosent dent and it is superlight. Its been through a couple of seasons and is still not dented.

The TOS and crankshaft performs like any other stick w/ an offset head. The only reason Gait and STX came up with that is so that they don't have to pay warrior and brine for making offset heads.

dont get an ice there not that light just get the regular 803 the torque pro has retarded topstring holes just get the regular torque. like sabreace said a stick wont improve your skills so u dont gotta waste your money. well its pretty much all stringing that will determine your shot.thats all i gotta say pceee

i have a cs, it will get more of a mid pocket than a low one if thats a concern for you
but i love the feel you get from the offset, and it just adds something extra thats unexplainable to your shots

Actually every couple of years you can pick up a piece of equipment that does make you play better. For some poeple its the Crankshaft and for others its using different pads. Not saying the skill change is drastic, but it can give you say a, quciker release or maybe some poeple shoot faster with the offset. And some im sure feel better with their sitkc skills.

but anyway, my friend had an ICE and he doesn use it anymore because he bent it a little, twice, and it had dents everywhere. Plus almost everyone aorund here that ahd a rank shaft has sold it or traded it away.

That is entirely homeopathic. And it's the wrong kind of belief to live by. Gear doesn't make you improve.

Do the Torque and the Torque Pro (when mounted on their respective shafts) have the same amount of offset? If so, I would think that LaxWizurrd is right, and both heads would play the same...

Regardless, I look forward to hearing from gilaxer12 once he's had a chance to compare the two heads.
