pretty sure this belongs here but if it doesn't, mods please do your thing. i dont want to go get those stx thumb protectors cause 1. i have superfreaks and the cross branding prolly wont work out. 2. im cheap. now i have reg field supers and i want to put a thumb protector on them cause i took a hard one yesterday and it didnt tickle. so has anyone done this before and knows how to do it? or does anyone have any ideas on materials and/or process to do it?

you can just wrap tape around them, or tape the thumb of the gloves itself

Find pics of Matt McMonagle from Cornell. He had busted thumbs so beefed up his thumb guard.

this was what i was going to do...

go to a sporting good store, play it again or something...get a old pair of crappy hockey gloves. cut the thumbs off, older gloves have a thumb that is just a plastic piece...cut off the leather and find the plastic with the padding under it...essentially just sliding that over your thumb and taping. worked wonders!

the goalies on my team got someone to put carbon fiber over there thumbs i think they bolted it on there, but im probably wrong because if that was hit hard enough couldnt the bolt go into there thumb

st1 has the right idea. just use old gloves to make them. i used my old goalie defts to make the removable thumbs that i use on a couple pairs of gloves i have and they work pretty well.
