Well, if he throws it to you, it may fall through your stick, so I'd suggest catching with your hands.

But seriously, two words, hard.work. Skill helps a little too though.

Coaches like Goalies that can direct a defense and has alot of leadership on the defense. make sure your just yelling the ball position, make sure you know how the defense works with the slides and stuff. Just be a leader. but having skill as a goalie also works haha. Oh yeah and make sure your a good clearer because thats improtant.

Hard work is a big thing. Chasing shots can make a pretty big impact.

i always want 2 players to be leaders on the teams i coach...The first is one of my attackmen, and the other is my goalie. If you are a solid player who can lead and direct a defense, I am more impressed by that than someone with a slightly higher save %

ya be loud and be able to be heard. Also good clears make a huge difference, since you dont want to be stuck on defense again, after you make a save.

being vocal, running, good outlets and making saves too. Also wear your number on your chest instead of on your back so they can see who you are all the time. Also i want to know if this would help because i think it could. Have an eye catching peice of equitment like a bright colored head or shaft, but would coaches find that arrogant?

Thats what i did specifically for tryouts. Out team colors are Blue and Gold. i used a Red shaft and a blue head. works pretty well cause he(my coach) sais he always knows its me by the Red shaft.
