What do you d-poles prefer as far as the type of head you use and the stringing??? Hard mesh, soft mesh, crosslace shooters, shoestring shooters, shooters only, V pocket???? Is a stiffer head better, more scoop, less scoop.... looking for information to pass on to newer/young players that are just starting out and want to play with the long stick.....

stiff is better because when u stick check it wont bend and it will be a more effective check. the type of mesh is on the person. same with the shooters. stiff heads like e3's, revo pros, etc. one head i use is a razer 2.0 its ok not as stiff as an e3 but still good. i also have in it american mesh and 3 across.
also a good beginer pole is the warrior platinum alloy and any fairly stiff head. i think a good starting d head is the proton +

i find for defense, whip is good, it gives u more control, especially since shot speed isnt the most important thing for defense.

Thanks for your suggestion, but....I already did read the stickies, along with the monsteroulsy massive guide to mesh/stringing, as well as trying several searches on defense sticks and strining set-ups for them with no luck. I'm a little smarter then your average bear....
I know a lot of this will come down to personal preferance, but as a coach who doesn't use a d-pole, I'd like to be able to give some guidence "from the horse's mouth". So thanks to those who actually choose to rply with information other then telling me to look elsewhere.....like it suggests in the stickies.....

No where in your original post did it say that you even read the stickies. In addition to that the stickies answer a fairly large arount of your questions.I'm not a mind reader but anyways to answer the majority of your questions.
For head's usually anything that is wide is great why because it is ideal for picking off passes and anything with a large flat scoop that is easy for picking up ground balls, but advanced players etc. may like pinched heads for better ball retention when the clear the ball. Also a lot of player's like stiffer heads so that you don't end up warping it after a few games of used. Examples of this are the Wizard and Bionic. But that's not to say that some people don't like flexible heads. Check the reviews list for more information depending on what head you want to get.
Shaft's shouldn't matter if there younger kids starting out because its the wand not the wizard as long as it holds up in durability for a few years your good to go. You should look for something cheap and durable in this area.
Shooters and how the stick is strung is also all personal preference some coaches like to start kids out with soft mesh because it gives when the catch , but it hold's up terrible in wet weather and also becomes illegal in rough playing conditions. Hard mesh and Catapultion from Jimalax.com or Composite Mesh from http://www.stringersshack.com both hold up phenomenally in wet weather.
Shooters are the fine tuning used in the stick and are usually a mix of nylon/crosslace and hockey laces

Get some mesh with wider diamonds such as 5d, 6d, or 7d. This will help with the wider heads that defenders tend to have. Also since shot speed doesn't matter. At least one u would be good because it helps hold the ball which is what you want. Larger scoops are good too for all those groundballs.
