Hi Everyone,

Still working hard to try a get the season off for this year. Just need people to get on board and organized. I will keep people updated, also PM for my email.

Each organization will have a Pro and Minor team. The organization will consist of 36 runners and 4 goalies. Each organization will have 7 players and 1 goalie that are franchised, and they can not play in the Minor division. Each organization will have to pay the league fee of $4000. The fee doesn’t include facility rental or ref fees. The league will provide the refs for the games, each home team is responsible for scorekeeper. Each home team is responsible to pay the refs before the start of games and will also provide game balls. Her is the breakdown of the league fee:

$500- $1000 will go towards the finals and all star game. The first and second place teams in the Pro division will receive a cash prize. Cash prize will be announced once the league knows how many teams are playing.

$3000 will go towards league payroll. Payroll consist of league management, accounting and marketing. The league will be responsible fro scheduling. Once teams have gotten there allowed play times from facility, the league will make the schedule.

Each organization will have to wear matching uniforms, consisting of home and away. The league has a five year contract with Ace Jerseys, but that will not start until Season 2. All teams will be required to by uniforms from Ace in season 2. Each organization will have to fill out a League Contract and Team information forms. Thse forms will be sent out to teams once they report to the league that they have both a Pro and Minor teams. The organization should have the following:

Owner
Manager of Organization
Coaches
Director of Game Day Operations
Director of Marketing
Announcer

Justin,

First, thanks again for attempting this. I have talked to several people behind the scenes and there are a few questions that pop up.

1. What areas have show intrerest??

2. Will you give ownership territorial rights??

3. Financials - If I read this correctly, the owners pay you $5K yet we still must pay for rink time, refs, uniforms, etc. Will you give a projected and final budget for the league including your salary?? In other words...full disclosure??

I have other questions but this is a good start...

Thanks..

Exactly how is this "professional lacrosse"?

boxlaxman, this sounds fairly shady to me and why would any of the semi-established box leagues across the East pay thousands for an uncertain benefit when you guys could all just unite on your own to get this going? 5k goes a long, long way when it comes to men's club level lacrosse (which this appears to actually be) so it shouldnt needlessly be thrown away

btw, was there a US Box Championship in 07 like in 06?

Nope...there was not an 07 Championship and that was completely my fault. I had some personal problems (i.e divorce) and it got put on the back burner. It will return during the last weekend of August as in '06 and will continue every year.

As far as the PBLL goes, I think that Justin wants it to be legitimate and, I have no issue with him making a profit as long as I feel I am getting what I pay for. As with any business, which pro leagues are, then you have to start small, sink your profits back in to the business and reap the rewards later.

I think what is a bit hard for some of us "box lacrosse guys" is that Justin is a new name with big plans. We have all talked about this many, many times and why it would or would not work. Calling a watered-down club league pro, does the game a diservice. I would hope that Justin would put together a Board of Directors or at the very least, an advisory committee of those of us who have been around the block a time or two.

Birth is a painful process...or so I've heard...:naughty:

To be a pro league, the players must be paid, not pay to play.

This is an amateur league.

Do not mislabel it

I dunno, I just checked out his "site" for the league, which is actually just a page off of a roller hockey rink site, and it looks extremely professional to me

Tell me, do players have agents in this league?

I hope your post is sarcastic (regarding the professionalism level of the site)?

Also, I believe they copied and pasted the OLA rules as the rules for their league. I thought this was professional, not minor lacrosse?

I assume this league didn't happen? Or is it still planned for November 08 now?
