ive been looking for a dslr starter kit and ive found a few that are in my price range. Anyone recommend any of the following over the others? personal experiences?
Pentax 6.31MP (K100D)
Nikon 6.1MP (D40)
Canon 8.0MP (EOS Digital Rebel XT )
Olympus 10.0MP (evolt)
Olympus 10MP 2 Lenses (E-410)

I understand the difference between 6 and 10 megapixels but i dont want to get a 10 just because its 10.

In my personal experience, Canon is a far better brand than Olympus, and is also cheaper for a camera with the same specs.

I don't know about Pentax and Nikon, but I can guarantee that you will be happy with a nice Canon Powershot, 7.1 MP. It will only set you back around 200~230 depending on if you can find a good deal.

Sherman he's looking for a slr not point and shoot

read through that, and post stuff like this there next time

I read Pentax cameras are supposed to be really good for people just starting out with slr cameras, they are easy to use etc

Also picture clarity isn't really based on megapixels, I can't put my finger on it what it is because I'm still a noob but I know it's somewhere in the megathread

Oh sorry, I interpreted as a camera, and I don't know what the means... But sorry about that.
