i'm very glad of this.

petrino's decisions caused the falcons to be so up and down thisw year, jhust when they looked like they might turn it around after a win, what does he do? benches harrington and throws in leftwitch.

dumb.

"if it aint broke don't fix it"

coaching is easy when your qb is a heisman candidate and your team is a bcs contender, but when you and your team are going through one of the biggest off field crisis' in sports history, not so much.

I dunno who there gonna get to fill that spot
Not a very good job right now- they have no talent

yeah the falcons are majorly going down hill. i fell bad for Joey Harrington (former oregon qb) he's had a rough time in atlanta

thats crazy. youve got to wonder if thats going to put a damper on NFL teams hiring college coaches.

i guess i doubt it. NFL owners almost universally have more money than brains

Or just the fact that some coaches are better suited for the college game. Ever heard of Pete Carroll? He wasn't so succesful in the NFL either but I dont think anyone would question his college career. But oh thats right, he had heisman trophy players and was a BCS contender..so it was easy.

lax'n'roll, they are having a bad season, but to say they have no talent is just plain stupid. jerious norwood is a good young running back, roddy white, mike jenkins, and laurent robinson make up a good young group of wide receivers, and alge crumpler is a mainstay at tight end. they have a young defense, lead by michael boley at linebacker and deangelo hall at conerback. Obviously, the quarterback situation is a complete mess, and they need to improve the offensive and defensive line a little bit, but they have some pieces.

Don't forget Spurrier. Quite possibly the most hyped College coach to come out. At least Petrino remembered the name of his starting Free Safety.

Lou Holtz is another good example. He went 3-10 in his only NFL season but yet managed to go 64-9 at Notre Dame, and take an 0-11 South Carolina squad to 8-4, and win a Bowl game over Ohio State.

hahahaha steve spurrier...the guy who coached the infamous '76 bucs to a winless 0-14 record. he's doing a decent job at south carolina tho. he's a good example of a guy who isn't suited for the nfl. the thing that gets me angry tho is that petrino signed a 5-year deal with the falcons and then just opts out after 3 quarters of a season to go to arkansas. i can completely understand where deangelo hall is coming from when he made those comments about petrino to scott van pelt on espn.

well to be fair he came for mike vick to help him and complete his game, when he left he had no purpose for being there. I agree with his decision

He quarterbacked those Bucs, not coached. Imagine how old he'd be then?

as a university of louisville fan i am glad to see him fail at atlanta because 7 months after he signed a 10 yr contract with us he goes to atlanta. He is a grade A scumbag. But i am curious to see if he fails at arkansas will he come crying back to louisville because hopefully kragthorpe will be gone by then. His family loves louisville (all but one of his children but 1 stayed in lousville when the moved to atlanta). i am interested to see if lousville would have the class to say no or bring him back. I dont care how much of scumbag he is he is a great coach and i can garuntee about 80% of this city would like him back.

it's a completely gutless move. You shouldn't quit in the middle of a season and you shouldn't walk out on your team WITHOUT EVEN TELLING THEM. Completely ridiculous. He should be ashamed, and the University of Arkansas will end up getting screwed by him as soon as something better comes along.

Looks like DeAngelo isn't as much of an idiot as everybody made him out to be..

Exactly, he's a lying jerk, and the Falcons are better off without him.

This is pretty ironic, I mean he had a plaque put up that said, "Finish" on it...and what does he do? He bails.

The man was a good college coach, but he didn't do that great in the pros for his first season. Any NFL owner or GM would be insane to try and hire him again.
