Sennheiser HD-280 Pros, available for less than $100 on Amazon, are amazing. Considering you're not willing to go into true audiophile headphones, which are insanely expensive, I would get them. I've been using them forever and their sound quality is nearly unrivaled by any other headphones in their price range.

I have a pair of $300 Bose headphones. But before the ranting begins, I didn't pay $300 for them. My friend had an internship at Bose and was able to get them for me. He had no interest and sold them to me for $50. They are great, best I have ever used, but would I pay that much money for them? Absolutely not.
Find some nice middle range ones.

I'm way out of my league on this subject (and many others, but let's not get into that now). Headphones are a popular topic. I found these threads:
Skullcandy (http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=94891)
Skull Candy (http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=68930)
Headphone Dilemma (http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=34041)
Stop with the Bose recommendations. Honestly. (http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=34543)
and many others, which are probably getting too old to be any good.
I think The Wall Street Journal. reviewed three noise-cancelling headphones in one of their Weekend Journal sections recently. I'll see if I can find that article.

Skullcandy's really aren't that good...
Bose are alright but you pay for the name.
I'm using a pair of Sennheiser CX-300's for my ipod and HD 575's for my computer/guitar.
I really like the sennhieser stuff, but you pay for the name like bose.
If you want bassy headphones the Icemat headset and inear headphones have alot of bass, but they break eaisly and lack on the midrange.
Also never used Grado's but for that price and those spec's its a steal. They could be uncomfortable from what they look like though
I have never used Etymotic before, but I hear good things
In all honesty, peoples music tastes are different. Some like a clean sound, some like alot of treble some like bass. If you want a really clean sound that has an even amount of treble bass and middle, the HD line of sennhieser is pretty much amazing. You can get alot of anysound by altering your equalizer.

Skullcandies look nice (if you're into that sort of thing...) but sound and overall quality-wise, they're mediocre at best. Don't get them.
Bose are quality, but waaay overpriced. As said above, you pay for the name, but you won't go wrong quality-wise with these.
Sennheiser are great. Inexpensive and wonderful sound quality. Never seen one pair of faulty headphones from these guys. Get these.

i wouldnt say skullcandy are that bad price-wise.
they are actualy fairly cheap considering their quality.
i guess it depends on your style and what you prefer, if you like the smaller, earbud style, than go for those; if you like the bigger dj-style headphones, than get those.
in my opinion, skullcandy takes it as far as as physical apperance, price, and quality go.

yeah, skullcandy really isn't very high quality sound, which is what you should be looking at if you're serious about headphones. Everyone basically goes for them because they look cool.
As someone said, sennheisers are pretty high quality, and not too expensive.
I personally have audiotechnica quietpoints. They run about 150 but have active noise cancelling, and sound better than bose. Worth every single penny I paid for them, super comfortable. Seriously, check them out, they are some of the best noise cancelling headphones on the market under the 150 mark.
and earbuds for the gym and other active stuff.

Skullcandy's arn't amazing, but for $15-$30 there good. Go and spend $300 on your headphones, but thats rediculous, anything over $100 is.

I like the apple ones. You know, the cheap little white ones. They work, sound quality sounds alright. -That's my opinion. If they break or I drop them I don't care because I just get a new pair. Besides, I haven't been up-to-date with my iPhone stuff, but I don't think they have a converter for it so there is no need for my to buy other ones.
My friend has skull candy's, I think they are pretty bad. Plus, IN MY OPINION: I think "Headphones" are garbage. I will only go with Earphones.--the ones that plug right into your ear. Other then that, I used to have a pair of sennheisers and they were awesome. Forget skullcandy.

I have had them all- 2 pairs of bose, 2 pairs of sennheiser, 2 pairs of skullcandy, and tried a few pairs of grados and shures.
Bose have excellent acoustics and feel, high quality sound and high quality product. For the price, the triports really aren't too overpriced, maybe slightly, but you are getting something that you know is of the highest quality.
Sennheisers, at least the ones I have owned, don't feel great on your ears, but have sound quality that could compete with bose in the same price range for sure. Their headphones for true audiophiles are some of the best money can buy and, if you're willing to drop the cash, would blow almost anything else away, bose included.
Skullcandy headphones are really mostly a novelty, the ones with an amplified subwoofer are ridiculously bassy, but the sound quality is nothing near what you would find if you spent 80 bucks on some grado's or sennheisers. Plus all the stupid kids who know absolutely nothing about headphones get them and will be the first to tell you they are the greatest things ever, when many times, the only thing they have to compare them to is their ipod earbuds.
Grado's are nice, the SR-60 is simply the best pair of headphones you will get for the money. Their more expensive products are incredible as well, but if you're looking for something nicer than the SR-60's but not incredibly expensive, you can spend your money more wisely with some sennheisers or something else along those lines

in-ear bose's are the way to go, not too expensive, really good bass. the only problem with them is the little rubber/silicone things that actually go in your ear has to be superglued on or else you will lose it and they will become worthless

Sennheiser is my main preference.
Grado's SR-60's are a great deal (as mentioned earlier I believe),
beyerdynamic's DT-440 have good bass notes, and are IMO the best to be driven by an ipod, and
AKG's higher end DJ headphones are pretty nice, but you certainly deal out a good chunk of cash for the quality.
I'm using a cheap (well, relative to say, what you can pay for headphones)pair of HD205's for my ipod, and some sweet HD215's for live mixing or my computer.

They may have nice sound quality, but having used them for only six months, the durability is horrible. I would wrap them around my iPod and put it in my pocket. The rubber covering the actual wires failed and they jack cut the wires. Good sounds, bad durability.

Does anyone know of any good noise canceling headphones that are around or less than 100$? I heard the Bose were really nice but they didn't block out the surrounding noise very well.
Any suggestions?
I had Sony rubber ear buds a while back, they were great but they got stolen. Now I just stick to the original Ipod headphone

Do you know what I could buy with $300 instead of headphones?
Sure, skullcandys arn't the greatest, but they do the job of blocking out the noise when Im on a roadtrip. Im sure I'd think Skullcandys suck when I try those $300 ones, but $15 for quality headphones is a great deal.

Im looking to get some new headphones. My skullcandy ones keep falling out of my ears on the treadmil. I don't want ones that wrap around your ears, I want "buds". I was looking at the JVC Gummies and was wondering if they are any good, or what ones are good (under $20).
