I believe it was for 9k in Aussie Dollars. The best part of the article is what he plans on buying his son in its place.

Definitely, though I found the part where says his son spends every hour of his life playing this game at his friends house (probably high on marijuana) quite amusing too.

I re-read the article (which links the eBay auction) it was sold for 9,100.01 USD to a buyer in Australia (so my above statement about the price being in Australian Dollars is wrong since the conversion would make it look a lote larger if I am correct...of course I have no idea what the conversion rate is so what good am I then...). The auction itself has a ton of info about the story and how the auction started to get out of hand. Plus he's already clued his son in on the auction.
Even if it was Australian dollars, it's like roughly $10 Australian to $9 American, so it's outrageous either way.

I would like to know what was going through the buyer's head at the end of the auction. Geesh $9,000 is a little much don't ya think...
Personally I think the son is getting the better end of the deal though , I mean c'mon, I would pick Barbie: Island Princess over Guitar Hero III anyday....*cough cough* :chuckle:

Lol, if you spend the time to read all the text at the ebay page it's quite funny.

Yea, for that money, you could buy a new system and guitar hero if you couldn't find it in the Wii edition...

I personally think it's ridiculous. If he wants to punish his kid for smoking weed then he should do it in the privacy of his own home, not in a public forum, and I think the punishment is too extreme. All he did was smoke some weed it's not that big of a deal.

For one he doesn't get a video game that he would have obviously played for days, and also he was publicly humiliated. Sure no one knows exactly who the kid is but I think if the father wanted to punish him he should have kept the video game, and he should have not given it to him until he "cleaned up" his act.

if you read the ebay listing he says that he would prefer his son to smoke weed than do any other drug, but he still frowns upon it.

IF this kids father is going to ruin his christmas over some pot I'd hate to see what he would do if the kid did anything harder.

its a freaking videogame for godsake, its 125 dollars that was taken away from the kid. If the kid could afford to smoke, which he probably did numbers of times, he would eventually have money or find a job to buy his own.

The dad said the pot wasn't the big deal. He said he asked if the kid really deserved the gift.

Im pretty sure there was some sort of program or computer involved that bid for the game. If you look at the bidders, the names are wierd, and one of them even has the word computer in it. Makes me suspicious that it may have been a mistake.

the man got payent but knew there were bidders there just to drive up the price. he said if did not get payment he would not worry about it
the aspire guy who won the item probably put in new bids to up his maximum
