i used an under the bed container. i think i just used 2 packs maroon, 2 packs black. i did maroon only on the top and black the rest and its fine

i have boxes that ive built out of scrap wood and lined with heavy duty plastic to make them water tight. ive got one for vertical dyes and one for horizontal dyes.

before that i used a rectangular plastic trash can lid lined with trash bags.

eagles: hit those stickers with a hot hair drier and press down on them before you do your dye, they will stick better to the plastic

here are pix. its all made from scrap i had around the house.
the plastic is super heavy duty trash bags from home depot doubled up. thinner bags cant cope with the heat. these bags dont last too long either.

DONT use this inside! i dyed my back porch purple when a bag failed

i dyed one in one of those aluminim turkey pans you can get at pretty much any supermarket.
i bet if you look around some local stores, you will find something cheap that you can use.
spenny's idea is really good too if you have some scrap wood lying around.
