oo taber is good
and ALL APPS ARE DUE THE 31st, so unless you already have your app and tranfer forms, and probably financial aid forms and use garunteed over night shipping for them to get to the school, your most likly NOT going there, plus you have to take the tests which are over, so unless you have connections...its probly not going to work out.

Taft(CT), Choate(CT),Canterbury(CT), Delbarton(NJ), the Harvey School, The Gunnery, Deerfield Academy, Avon Old Farms(CT), Loomis Chaffee(CT), Trinity Pawling(NY/CT not sure), Westminster School, Chaminade High School(NY). There are so many on the east coast prep schools also the ones i under line im pretty sure are good at lax. Shimpy the reason people go to prep school is for better looks in athletics and a better education.

ok first off schools like st. georges, choate, westminster, vermont, and canterbury all suck at lax but are good boarding schools. i highly doubt you are good enough to play at deerfield, as they are like top 15 in the country and recruit anyways so they would have to come to you. and leagues like the isl, west 1, east something with phillips exeter in it are all good at lax. teams like govoners, rivers, belmont hill, and nobles are sick in the isl. west 1 is stacked with like deerfield, avon, loomischaffe, hothckiss, and salisbury school. the east leagues are also ver ygood with schools like phillips andover and exeter, pomfret, hebron, brewster, pingree, and worcester. if you don't apply soon, though, you wiill not get in to any of them. i applied to the current boarding school i go to now in feb. and was the last kid accepted into it. so get going on it.

Deerfield is amazing at lax. I have a friend(girl) who pays hockey there and she says they are intense. Goveners is also really good(got a friend who lives there too, also a girl hockey player)

check out any school in the ISL that boards. having gone to an ISL school, i can recommend all of them except belmont hill, which doesnt board anyway. all of the schools are some of the most prestigious in the country and offer the best academics around. recruits from these schools include insidelacrosse.com #9 mark goodrich at hopkins, lawson from middlesex, shakespeare from governors, and i forget his name but some kid playing at princeton this year. all of the schools have a ton of money aka great facilities and great coaches. all of the coaches are also teachers so youll form a close relationship with your coach. also, youll most likely go to a top 50 college in the country for lax or academics.

Yeah, I am most likey goging to boarding school next year. I was looking at first for a great lacrosse program, location, and of course, it has to be a great school. I found the best combinations of all these at Salisbury, Deerfield, and Lawrenceville. These are the schools I am applying to and hopefully getting in! They are all GREAT schools with sick lacrosse.

Georgetown Preperatory School, Deerfield Academy, Lawrenceville and Loomis Chaffee are all great at lacrosse and great schools, but they have very high acceptance standards (athletic and academic) and are all gut-wrenchingly expensive.

um no, Kiski is not good at lax. I went to a boarding school in nc and we waxed them in a tournament 15-0. I would not recommend Kiski.

Second only to the MIAA, New England West I lacrosse is the most competitive league in the country. The Better ISL teams are right up there and top Jersey schools like Lawrenceville are top tier as well.
However, boarding school is an intensive 10 month a year experience, and you're only laxing for 2 or 3 of them. Pick carefully. Visit the school before deciding and make sure that you'll feel comfortable there. Most kids coming from good public schools prefer to repeat a year when they enter, so keep that in mind.
The drawback of playing in an intensely competitive league is that unless you're a phenomenal player, you'll not see much action.

Sheesh, Kent went 4 and 12 last year against a schedule that averaged 89 Power at Laxpower. 'Not that great' is relative.
Attackman, why are you so determined to go East to play? I'm not opposed - I played my prep ball in West I, but if you want a world class education and the boarding school experience and a dozen or so lax junkies to play lax with, consider Cate or Thacher or RLS. Right here in good ol' CA.
If you really want to play for a Lax mercenary program, look at Western Reserve in Ohio. These guys play everybody of note. Good school, too.
Just keep in mind that when Deerfield played Salisbury last year, there were almost 30 kids on the field who will be contributing to top DI and DIII programs this year. Do you really want to have to compete with that calibre of player just to play lax?

To play on Avon you just need grades. My friend's brother went there and he starts as a junior on varsity and he is decent-not great. Cushing is ok, one of my best friends goes there and he loves it. Deerfield is a good school but is pretty much hated by everyone that doesn't go there. Hotchkiss is sick, I got in last year but I decided not to go, I mite go next year as a repeat. If you dish out enough money you can get into any of these schools though.

Cate's coach is Aps Kinnan. He's pretty well respected. Their program is strong every year, but the better public school programs have moved past them.

Agree that there is a ton of great lax (and ice hockey) at the New England west preps. Deerfield and Loomis are perennially strong (although Loomis was in a down cycle last year). Salisbury, Avon, Hotchkiss, Choate, Westminster, Taft - top level all around. Competition is tough - so you need to be a high level player to get time (just making the team does not mean you'll get playing time). As one poster noted, the Deerfield-Salisbury game had 25-30 kids on it that were moving on to top D-I and D-III progams.
Beyond lax, be prepared for the prep school life. Demanding academics, including classes on Saturday. Dorm living; dining hall; etc. Not everyone is cut out for it. But most kids seem to love it.

NE West division is by far the best for lax ........
If you're good enough, the coaches at these schools will look at you/meet with you even past application deadline. These schools also look at the whole picture...grades, athletics, whether you're a legacy (mom, dad or sibling attend(ed) SSAT scores.Go for it or you'll never know if you could have gotten in or not.......
The Big 5 lax schools are (The cream of the crop)
Deerfield
Salisbury(I think this school is ready to take down Deerfield)
Avon Old Farms
Hotchkiss
Loomis Chaffee
These schools are for the top players who the schools see as being able to hold their own at that high level of play and will go D I-III for sure.
There are SO MANY other great prep schools in NE, but maybe without such an intense lax program, but nonetheless good programs...not great programs:
Kent
Suffield
Taft
Williston
Westminster
K-O
Exeter
Andover
Governor's
Tabor.....the list can go on and on
Just do your research and visit the schools

first off masslax i have no idea where your stats are coming from.
First off I would not consider Loomis, or Hotchkiss top 5. Second Westminster beat Avon last year and Exeter by far has to be in the top 5 on that list followed by Governors who won the ISL and only lost to Exeter by 1. Also Deerfield isnt that good, they just stacked their team with PG's last year (post grads who would be considerd freshman in college.)

I saw a few of these teams play in FLA, is it just me or has the level of prep schools come up dramatically? We went to this tournament for the last 2 years and have always been dominated(Except for Avon & Deerfield & GDA) now many more preps seem to have strong deep talent, all good for USA lax!

Holderness is kinda a step below the previously mentioned schools, the have good athletics but academics is not to rigorous. It's not too hard to get into; I know many kids that go there and they mostly slack off, but they do love it. I'm not saying its a bad school I just think there are better schools for the money.
Academics are the first priorities to all these schools. Trust me, they don't care that your mile time is below six minutes or your scoreed 30+ goals last season.
