GHLax3, the MHSAA has not yet decided between a divisional format (all teams divided evenly into two divisions based on size) or a class format (Class A and Class B-C-D, also based on size, but predetermined by the MHSAA for all sports). Brother Rice is always the favorite. With coaching changes at most of the top programs (Cranbrook, East Grand Rapids, Birmingham, Detroit Catholic Central, and De La Salle, among others) look for Detroit Country Day and the University of Detroit Jesuit to make some noise this year.

With lax being MHSAA now will the players still have to pay to play?

Mr. Tibbs, pay-to-play is a policy set by individual schools for all of their sports, not just lacrosse.

I thought the majority of MI teams were club so the funding didnt come from the school and the players had to pay.

Mr. Tibs, about 35-40 of the 60+ boys teams were varsity at their respective schools as of last year. Some/many schools require pay-to-play regardless of a given sport being club or varsity. Maybe more schools will elevate their programs to varsity status this year (and beyond) because it is now an MHSAA sport. For the girls, the number was 15-18 varsities out of 30 last year.
