Is this meant for a generic hockey helmet or is it a replacement mask for the Gait Box Helmet? Big difference I think.
For masks designed for hockey buckets, they have two clasps that screw into the two wells in the top of the helmet (above the brow) and one clasp that screws into the well on each side of the helmet. There are generally two wells on either side of the helmet to allow for sizing.

It is going on a RBK 8k. I called Mountain edge and they told me there are 2 ways to fasten it.
1. clips over brow and on sides.
2. Clips over brow, j clips on sides and straps to back snaps.

You will appreciate the J clips much more so your mask can flip up. Be sure to have a four point chin strap though! :)

I set it up old school. fastened on for good, its pretty sick.. cut off the j straps and flip up feature.

"you cant put a 4 pointer"
My bad, I meant:
Chin strap (2 points) + chin cup (2 points) = 4 points.
By the way where did you get it?

There is a way to get a 4 point chin strap on a box helmet, but it involves some well placed drill holes, and of course it's a one shot deal... get it wrong, and your bucked is messed up...
I think you are talking about the new DeBeer (gait) facemask... did it come in the titanium color??

Do you have clips on the sides? It looks like you have four up top. Four up top wont get you "old school" it will get you killed. Make sure you have some stabilization on the side of the mask. Might just be the pictures but it looks like two at the hinge in and two at the outer edges.

Just posting to see if you can see my clips. (edit. not well)
It's hard to tell, (not the best picture) but I have two at the hinge (top middle) and two on the sides. Any check coming up your pads will pop your mask if you have everything anchored to the top. Most helmets have holes that will enable you to spread your clips.
I know that Josh Sanderson is using that mask this year, so it does work on an RBK helmet. (unless he drills his out, which is possible)
The two together look great. I'd adjust your anchoring to give you better protection though.

Old- can you please refer me to some photos of what you are talking about? I just went out to the garage and tried pushing the face mask around, it wont budge....

Put it on your head and have someone push up. It will stretch the plastic and enlarge the screw holes. Put it on your head and take an upwards hit. It will pop the plastic and leave you out of a game.
Remember that you pushing on a helmet you like is not equal to the check of the opponent that is trying to beat you, or, do what you wish. It was advice you asked for.
Remember, Mountain Edge said,
1. clips over brow and on sides.

But there are fasteners on the other side to prevent the screw from poping out and the fastners are metal "P" loops, not plastic.. I dunno I am thinking it is ok..

yes you can, I know a guy around where I live who did it, there are guys in the NLL who do it as well
That thing's kinda ugly. That bottom hole looks as if a ball could fit through. The O'neal was banned from minor for less than that.

You don't have to change it. This will just make it stronger.

That ugly-arse Gait thing in the first guy's post - does it actually work? Looks like the horizontal bar would be right in front of your eyes?
Also, if that thing is legal, I can't believe they outlawed the old Cooper cages!

Where do you guys buy/get the metal helmet clips (like on the brow mount)? I'm having a hard time getting the metal one. The local hockey shop only carries the big plastic ones. I've found a place online, but I'd have to pay like $10 in shipping and handling fees. Thanks for any help.

You can put 4 point chin straps on pretty much all cages without drilling holes. The cages have bolts at the back of the neck that you replace with the nub things that your chinstrap attaches to. See attached photo.
Josh Sanderson wears the new GAIT cage, but I couldn't find a picture. You just attach is like a Marty O'Neill with the 4 clips. I don't see the problem. The cages even come with a little bag full of bolts and clips. The only problem I found is that because this cage doesn't have two horizontal bars at the top, the middle bar ends up being right in your line of site. I'm trying to find a way to make the cage recess a little to avoid this problem.

Yes, it's right in your eyes because it's missing one of the two top bars the other cages have. It's awesome otherwise and I'm trying to figure out how to solve this. Maybe by pushing it in if I can.
That picture you posted brings me back. That was an old batcatcher (don't know how to spell it) cage that we used to cut the top bar off and use for lacrosse. That was a wicked cage. You could wear it in the 90's but not anymore. I'm pissed I loaned it out and never got it back and I can't find them anywhere...

not many players in the nll if any at all wear a 4 point.. some american field players who grew up with a 4 point do but since the rbk with the box mask came into play the 4 point has become close to extinct.. i think one of the last canadians to wear the 4 point was ladaceur and he changed it after he got chirped for fighting scott evans and his helmet being glued on.

Hey, I just got a 6k and put a NAMI face mask on it. I found those to metal clips at a local sports store. Play it again sports or something like that, anyway most times they have a bucket full of them or if you ask the guy working there might just grab some off another mask.

Is there any way that you can push the gait cage inwards? I know guys used to push the nami in until it touched their nose.

Lol, yea i did that once and i liked it until a ref called me on it( i cut out the palms and the majority of the fingers except for the tis of the fingers so i could slip my fingers in and out.
Qauker, how are the sightlines on that bad boy and how exposed is the chin area?
