Regarding...

NCAA A.R. 116. Team A scores the game-winning goal in a sudden victory period. The head coach of Team B requests an equipment inspection after the sudden victory goal has been scored to determine the legality of the crosse. RULING: The game has ended. No inspection is permitted.

What would happen if in an overtime situation, after the scorer scores, he pulls on his strings?

Would the same hold true in that situation also? Meaning that after the score the game ended so the pulling of the strings would not matter?

Just curious as I know coaches and players may (if they read the rules) see that and wonder the odds of playing in OT with an illegal stick.

just to add, would the official do a random stick check before OT started?

Officials can do random stick checks whenever the spirit moves them - except after the game has ended.

224, in OT, the game is over/finis/kaput as soon as the ball passes the plane of the cage unless there is an existing reason to disallow the goal at that moment (attack in the crease, inadvertent whistle, whatever). Sorry, no stick check. No reason to pull strings and no reason to scan for that. Games over, and I'm already late for whatever I had planned.

Thanks! That is what I was thinking 3PP.

As for the stick check, I personally think I would need a very good reason to do a random stick check before overtime and most likely would not do one at that time. Overtime is one of those situations where you just need to swallow your whistle for some things.

Now if the coach asks for one, thats a different story.

The mechanic is to have all of your random checks done by the 5:00 mark in the 4th quarter and to do no more after that point. As you say, the coaches can always ask.
