Here's my new Sniper (thanks, takin me down) which I've pinched for faceoffs. I reverse flared it so I don't get called for withholding. It's strung, but I'll post pictures of the pocket when I've broken it in. Give me some C+C. (By the way, the pictures aren't the best. The pinch is definitely even.)

I really like the head. It was really easy to reverse flare because of those little cutouts on top of the sidewall.

And mods, change the title to something less confusing please. I think someone else has One Shot, One Kill. Maybe FOGO Pinch or something. I just saw that other thread.

The sniper is definitely an underrated head. It's a very good head for a FOGO once you pinch it. There isn't really a reason to use an onset head if you're not facing off. There is a noticeable difference between onset and offset, but it's not enough to make it unusable. It's awesome for faceoffs.

ya the difference i saw with the sniper when i had it waas the release was very quick honestly i would take a straight head with a 2 and a half inches sidewall over a offset head

Unfortunately, that would be illegal.

You gonna post the string job?I'm still breaking it in. I need to get it soft for GBs. It's almost there.

"Straight" is the preferred nomenclature, not "onset".

But I'm still not sure what you're getting at... There's plenty of reason to use it; some people are more comfortable with straight heads and in it's day it was a great, relatively light, stiff head. I'd have no problem throwing one on a pole and playing with it tomorrow.

The quick release isn't exclusive to the sniper, it's a trait of all straight heads. They're great for getting off fast and sharp flick off the wrist passes and shots when the stick is straight up and down and close to your body.

It wouldn't be illegal, the diesel is legal and it is 2.7.

On the topic of using it, I guess you're right. I've only cradled with it inside (and done some practice faceoffs, obviously) and it feels like the ball is about to come out. I haven't thrown with it, so I can't really notice the release. I was wrong. It's preference.

I saw somewhere that the legal height is 2". Maybe it's the 2010 rules. Can anyone find some proof?

I'm not saying it's for everyone, just that there is a place for it outside of a fogo's hands. I can see how it would feel weird to someone that's always played with an offset head, but a difference in feel doesn't always equate to a difference in performance. You can string plenty of hold into a straight head and they'll always have a much quicker release than an offset head.

not for NCAA play...you can use it in HS, but the second you step onto the collegiate field you need to grab a new stick

I just didn't know that it had an advantage over offset like that. I'm sure that once I get used to it I won't notice the difference in feel enough to make a difference.

Haha. It just seemed less clever when I saw that there was 3 of them. If it was FOGO Edition and WAC Edition, it would've been cool. I heard they get too flexible after a while. True?

i just box pinched my friend's sniper, it actually worked out really nicely. I think it may be a bit flexible, but it should be good.
