I assume that almost all NLL players pinch their heads at least an inch or two, but how many actually just use a normal, unpinched head?

what would the point be? when your allowed to have your stick that pinched using anything wider would just be a disadvantage
you have to remember in box crosschecking is legal so the point of the box pinch is to keep the ball in your stick until you want it to come out

Jim Veltman uses an unpinched debeer phantom because he is a looseball monster. Not all players pinch their heads MakiMaki13, because some are specialists like loose balls, face-offs, man down etc. Some players buy factory heads and use them their whole career. Dan Ladouceur for the Rock uses an unpinched factory strung wizard he told me that it has lasted him since he bought it.

Yea I knew depending on the positioned played it could be either more or less likely that the player would use a box pinched or stock head, but wasn't to sure. But thanks for the clarification on the specialty positions I was mainly thinking about offensive minded players like John Grant Jr. , Prout , Kelusky etc.

Derek Malawsky's stick looks just like an oval. I was at the game last night and noticed how pinched he had it.

i was watching the Rocks home game and noticed quite a few of the guys had older heads that we not pinched. Blaine Manning uses the Original proton and he is a forward.

most d guys heads are wide, it's easier to pick off passes.

Yes, many defensemen and transitional players use slightly pinched or unpinched heads... using an unpinched head is much better for loose balls and it helps d guys with average stick skills.... there are even a few american forwards who use unpinched heads...
the only reason why it "appears" that everyone in the NLL uses a pinched head is that you normally only focus on offensive players, and don't pay much attention to the guys in the trenches....
