It sounds like a nice excuse to escape the winter weather of the midAtlantic/midWest and earn a few bucks officiating as well. Do you accept non-Calif. officials?

My family has a house in Palm Desert. If the tourney accepts non-California officials, think I could work enough games to justify the plane ticket?

the refs were horrible at la quinta for the most part. I even saw a ref make our jv kids face off to the right and behind of the cage.

That is the proper call, assuming you are posting this from 1984.

Or from the La Quinta sand hockey tournament.

Not sure they'd pay enough to cover plane tickets AND your post game habits. :chuckle:

Or even the post game habits.
A friend of mine worked the tourney and made $750. Something like 6 games one day and 8 the next.
I begin to deflect after 3 games in a day. It's no fun anymore. I officiate well when it's fun and probably would do a poor job once I got over the thrill that day and wanted to move on to other things.
He said "Hey, wanna do this next year?' I declined.
8 games in one day. If lacrosse ever becomes burdensome for me, let me find a new hobby.

I agree 100%. I do lacrosse because I enjoy it, not because it's a job. I only work 2-3 games a week, not every night. I wouldn't enjoy it if I had to do it every day.

Yes I did work 14 games in 2 days but it was the San Diego Adrenaline Tournament, not La Quinta. I wish it had been on artificial turf but alas it was not and I ended up spraining my ankle in the 13th game. The 14th was a challenge and went into overtime. Luckily the overtime goal was clean and almost everyone went home happy.

Almost everyone, huh? You would do well to PM the odious Cardinal PUFF and loop him in to your network of odious western officials who don't mind working more than they need to.
