This thread is for posting dates and times for officials training programs for new officials. We'll keep recurring training for existing officials out of this thread because presumably those officials can be contacted directly through their officials association.

Please make the first line of your post the state or province in which your training classes will take place. You can then follow up with dates and times.

This thread is for posting training class notifications only. If you have questions, PM the person who posted the thread. Thanks!

Minnesota—Returning Officials

2008 UMLOA Training Dates

The new season is fast approaching and fall is behind us already. In preparation for the upcoming season please prepare yourself with the training opportunities the UMLOA is sponsering.

As a reminder, all College level Officials must have 10 hours of training annually, plus attend a session on NCAA vs NFHS rules differences, plus attend a MSHSL Rules meeting to officiate that league.

High School officials must attend at least 6 hours of high school level training plus the Annual General Meeting (AGM), plus a MSHSL rules meeting on an annual basis. The sessions labeled "ALL OFFICIALS" are appropriate for all officials, but attendance at every such session is not mandatory.

Below is the training schedule for all returning College and High School lacrosse officials for 2008. Unless otherwise noted all sessions will be at Kaplan Test Center, 2610 University Ave W, St Paul MN

January 19-21

US Lacrosse National Convention Philadelphia PA. Consult w/ Brad Scibak or Jeff King for credit for attending sessions at the convention.

Saturday, February 2
9:00–Noon
NCAA Rules (3 hrs)

Thursday,February 7
6:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m.
NCAA Rules (repeat of February 2)

Saturday, February 9
9:00 a.m.–Noon
Mechanics (2 & 3 man)
Noon–1:00 p.m
NCAA vs NFHS rules differences for college officials

Tuesday, February 12
6:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m.
Mechanics (2 & 3 man)
(Repeat of February 9; no NCAA vs. NFHS at this session)

Saturday, March 8
9:00 a.m.–Noon
NFHS rules

Tuesday, March 11
7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
MSHSL Required meeting.
At Roseville High School.

Wednesday, March 19
7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
MSHSL Required meeting (repeat of March 11), followed by NCAA vs. NFHS Rules Differences (repeat of February 9).
At Edina High School.

Saturday, April 5
9:00 a.m.–Noon
Mechanics (2 & 3 man)
Repeat of February 9

Sunday, April 6
1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
NFHS Rules

The numerous sessions should give everyone the opportunity to complete the required training as most sessions are offered on a weekend and week night.

Field Lacrosse Referee Clinics. Levels 1 and 2 (these are combined clinics)
Spring 2008

These Clinics all run from 9am - 4pm and the cost for them is $70.00

Sorry for the delay - here are the details for the training classes (both are the same so you only need to attend one). Class will run from 9-3 with a lunch break (lunch will be provided at Cate). There is no charge and training materials will be provided.

Saturday 1/19: 550 Laurie Lane - Thousand Oaks

* Moorpark Road exit from 101
* turn North (right if coming from LA, left if from Ventura)
* turn right at Brazil St (Mimi's Cafe)
* go two blocks then left on Laurie Lane
* Pavilion Apartments office is on right - enter office and common room is downstairs

Saturday 1/26: Cate School - 1960 Cate Mesa Rd - Carpinteria

* Casitas Pass Rd exit from 101
* turn North (right if from Ventura, left if from Santa Barbara)
* turn right when reach T-intersection
* after a mile you pass Lions Park on right - take next left before road crosses bridge
* entrance to school is on right - drive to top of hill and park on right near gym
* exact room still unknown

Junior [Associate] Officials

The Eastern Mass Lacrosse Officials Association (EMLOA), in partnership with Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL), is offering Full-Day Associate Official Certification Classes AND Half-Day Associate Official Recertification Classes on the following dates:

When: Saturday, March 1, 2008
Sunday, March 9, 2008
Full Day Certification Class starts at 9:30 AM, adjourns 3:30 PM
Half Day Recertification Class starts at 9:30 AM, adjourns 12:30 PM
Where: Noble & Greenough School, 10 Campus Drive in Dedham, MA
Cost: Fee for Certification is $30, Recertification is $20. Your fee includes EMLOA handouts, NFHS Rule Book, Test materials and lunch. Fees will be collected on site. (Make checks out to EMLOA)

Candidates Classes
Week 1 of the candidates classes begin:
Holliston classes meet on Mondays - Jan 28, Feb 4 and Feb 11. Mass Maritime classes meet on Wednesdays Jan 30, Feb 6 and Feb 13,
Endicott classes are Thursdays, Jan 31, Feb 7 and Feb 14

Classes are free to EMLOA members who want a refresher and you can add to the development of the new candidates.
