What is the difference? does traditional have more hold or make your shot faster? why would somebody choose traditional over mesh?

It's all preference, I for one like traditional over mesh because, it gives you more feel for the ball and seems to have more hold than some mesh pockets. Now just because I like traditional, doesn't mean that everyone will like traditional. I believe there is also a thread called "traditional users unite" search that up and I believe that contains some info about trads.

supposedly, traditional gives you more hold, but I never liked it that much. I found it to be much more inconsistent than mesh.
I love the way trad shoots, it seems much faster to me. Its more accurate, but I always have to fine tune it, with mesh its sort of a set and forget thing.

A good strung trad pocket beats mesh any day in my opinion. Your shot is faster and you have much better hold with traditional, and you can adjust the whip settings easily.

There's nothing you can do with a trad pocket that you can't do with a properly strung mesh pocket, it all comes down to preference. I grew up stringing and playing with trad sticks but I haven't brought one out on the field since early on in higschool when I made the switch to mesh.

As my name says, I'm too damn old to say that trad rocks!
I grew up with it, I learned to string it, I learned to tie the pocket I liked. It wont be the pocket you like. The thing about mesh, (and I use it sometimes) is that it is easier to keep. Those that know the power of throwing properly tied trad will forever enjoy it, those that properly tie mesh and enjoy it will not. It is a preference, and it is a steep learning curve. But, when you can string a trad pocket (for indoors, I'm not going to say that outdoor trad is easy) that you love, you will never even consider using a mesh pocket. For field players, you may consider pocket maintenance a pain in the ash and never try it or venture in once and never come back.
Either way, even as an older guy, I love this forum. The complexity of some pockets are amazing, the simplicity of others is astouding, the very fact that here, a group of guys push the limits of the sport is amazing. You don't have to tie the ultimate pocket to throw a ball, but the guys that can, offer you their insight into how to do it. Take that knowledge and use it to improve your game. To tweak "your stick" to "your game". That is all the edge you need.
The rest is all up to practice and his brother practice.

i have never played with traditional before. BUT, i hate mesh with a passion. the reason i hate mesh is cause every time i use it, it feels like crap, it plays like crap and i feel like a noob. so......... uhhhhhhh............ yeah. i like the good old fashioned pita pocket myself.

It is alllll prefrence. I like traditional for most of the reaosns satated already above, but most of all I get the most feel for the ball with a good traditional pocket.

in my opinion i like mesh. its lighter, and it comes in small or large diamonds. i think its more consistant and if you get it right, you can have it beat traditional any day.

1) unnecessary bump.
2) speak in normal english, not the english you use for aim.
3) I revoke what I said about mesh being better, this summer I used almost only traditional or some custom and I loved it. It does take some more maintenance though.

mesh is better on the consistency side, but I would say that trad. has better feel. I enjoy both, but I'd rather have mesh.
