I live in Calgary and had roughnecks season tickets for the last two years. This year i chose not to renew them 1) the fact of the lock-out but the main reason was that, i believe you see the team play the same teams over and over. I think i've seen Arizona, Colorado, and San Jose play about 2/3's of the necks home games. Toronto, Buffalo, and Portland i've seen but i've never seen home games where they played the wings the knighthawks i haven;t seen new york or chicago. arizona had good players and will after this season, colorado is one of the best teams and i like seeing prout and carey play, and doyle and jeff zywicky (sp?) are two of my favorite players but theres other players i want to see play and sure i have watched them at the all star game here a few years back.
what are your guys views? i dont know about other teams schedules but do you guys face the same problems? and with lacrosse being a small professional sport is it to expensive going to play in other towns? whats the deal?

SIGH... :banghead: Do you like to watch the game or not? There's LOTS of fans who'd like to have a chance to see ANY teams play, but live too far away. Stop nitpicking & bellyaching the schedule and enjoy your priveleged (if frozen) position!

I love watching the Wings play Toronto, Rochester, and Buffalo. It's very exciting. It never gets old. I've been going since 1999 and I haven't ever said, "Why do we always play the same teams..???" Well, maybe because it's not exactly a huge league. When I see the new schedule every year, I say "OOOOoooOOOOoooo, we play Toronto three times. Should be interesting!!"

Watch the game and enjoy. If you don't like it, make a team on the east coast. Lets just hope you have about 10 million dollars.

Take into account the travelling costs of flying cross-country, instead of maybe 500 miles or so for some of the teams. Arizona to Toronto is a long trip. Toronto to Portland is a long trip. Calgary to Toronto is a long trip. Toronto to Buffalo? Not that long.

And it's not just the money factor, these guys have jobs they have to be at on Fridays and Mondays. It's probably easier for them to take half a day off to travel from Toronto to Buffalo, then it is for them to take a full day off (and less profitable) and travel from Toronto to Portland or Colorado ect...

The league is still growing, and until the schedule grows, there won't be enough profits, or demand, or time, going around to be able see each and every team every single year.

In addition to the costs involved in flying the whole team across country to play in front of (often) much less than 10k fans, there are playoff ranking and availability involved.

Don't forget that, just like most other leagues, you are going to play your divisional / conference (whatever term is used in the various leagues) opponents more often than an non-divisional opponent. This allows playoff determination and tie-breakers...

There are teams Philly has not played that I would love to see them play... but I also love seeing our hated rivals in town. I always know that I am gonna see a great game when Buffalo comes to town.

Until (if?!?) this league gets big enough to be full time and have a longer season (allowing more interdivisional play) - you will be lucky to see 2 interdivisional games (at home if you are lucky - away and on B2 if not)

Until the league generates enough profits and all teams show that they can "Fill A Barn" you are not going to see long road trips. It's too expensive to pay an entire team, their coaching/training staff and handlers, to go and play in front of a couple thousand fans. Don't get me wrong.

It's the league's fault not yours. They are granting franchises to cities that will not support the league. Much like the NHL Toronto "could" have the worst team in the league (which they don't) and continue to survive. Some cities are hoping for season ticket sales which will enable them to play next year. It "Is" the worst case scenario... the league will grant a team to any perspective owners that front the cash, and let it die as quickly as it was created to get that money.
