yet another example of why baseball is corrupt (not including steroids). there are the several teams, including the red sox, yankees, mets and several others, who have unlimited money and get any player they want.
baseball desperately needs a salary cap because trading and free agency is getting to the point where the smaller teams have no shot at signing any free agent because the yankees, mets, red sox, cubs sign majority of the players, which leaves very few leftovers for all the other teams

Yes, absolutly correct.
And the Phillies still managed to beat the Mets.
I still doubt the Mets can manage to not choke when it counts. But I guess I shouldn't talk, since the Yankees pay A-Rod way too much for the way he plays in October.

Baseball is desperately in need of a salary cap. Another example of a Twins player making it big and then bolting when more money is available. It is sickening, especially if we couldnt keep mauer, morneau, and liriano as well. sad day for twins fans to lose their ace for the last 4 years

He's not bolting...the Twins traded him for basically nothing to be honest. Could of got Melky Cabrera+Phil Hughes+prospects from the Yanks, but apparently the Twins GM would rather have a bunch of horrible guys who might make the 3rd spot in the rotation at best.

I'm so sick of hearing people whine about teams having money and buying whoever they want, seriously, it's getting old. Just let it go, it's starting to get like a broken record, people just say the exact same thing that everyone else says.

Quit whining, It's My Twins, I hate it. But other teams still manage to be good.

the reason why teams have so much money is because of their large fan base and their ability to succeed which allows them to continue to make huge sums of money. i am a die hard mets fan and this is the greatest news for the mets since the signing of pedro. the mets now have one of the best rotations in the mlb. i see a world series within the very near future for the mets. then again us mets fans have been saying that for the past 10 years.

and their ability to succeed is because of them having so much money. I don't blame people in places like Kansas City to not want to go to a game, the royals are atrocious. Look at the NFL, there are no teams that are consistently bad, there may be teams that aren't always in the playoffs, but that is not because they have no money to do anything, it is usually because of bad coaching/management or just plain bad luck. It is not like this in the MLB. There are teams like the Royals, Devil Rays, Orioles, A's, Pirates, and Rockies, just to name a few (it is not limited to those teams) , that you rarely see signing (or trading for) big time free agents such as Johan.
I could go through the past several years and all the big name free agents to prove that a vast majority go to teams like the Mets, Yankees, and Red Socks, but I dont have the time for that.

you made a solid point but you backed it up with bad facts. You said the Rockies are consistently bad but, They were the NL champs last season. Your not steven Colbert get your facts straight

That's not what I said. I said that small market teams, like the Rockies, almost never sign (or trade for) the big name free agents like Johan
