Machinima- anyone know how to do it?

im in a video production class, and me and my friend want to do a Machinima video of halo, like red vs. blue. but we have no clue how to do it or what we need to do it, we were thinking to just record the video and go onto bungie.net and take it off there then edit and add voice overs, if that would even work?? if any1 has any information then please help!!

you cannot take it off the bungie file share (tried it)
you need a capture card. you have to hook it up, and basically after you record the video, and play it in theater mode without the hud view (or else it will record that). then take the video off the card and hook it up to the computer and add voice, special effects, whatever.

go to youtube and type in insidehalo episode 6. in the end, it will show you what a capture card is.
