Last year I heard they were thinking of bringing the flat cages back or something along the lines of that. Any news on that?

and im clarifying. The only lacrosse specific cages aloud in minor are the Otny jr and intermediate cages, and the Nami jr and intermediate cages?

Does anyone have any pictures of what the Nami and Otny INTERMEDIATE cages look like?

LaxIzKool- you dont live in Canada, so you dont know.

If you are not a junior or intermediate player, you must have a rounded cage with paths to the airways again this year for 2008.

hahahaha

anyways...warrior, i think your thinking of the gait cage. I saw a few guys using them last year in midget, but imo, there kinda ugly. I used the NAMI intermediate, so if i can find my camera, ill post some pics up.

you would be surprised with the vision. Now that im a first year junior, i bought a 20/20. the vision between this an the nami int is actually identical. If you can stand having a curved cage for the next few years, but it. But if it's only for 1 more year, id say its worth holding out on the field bucket. I kinda regret even buying the name INT, cause it was a waste of $50ish for one season.

Oh yeah, just one more thing. There must be a design flaw or something in the INT, cause the 2nd game i used it is, i took a shot square in the face. It bent the bars it, so it had a flat front, but still curved underneath.

Just my 2 cents.

Is a flat cage a brand? or is it a flat cage literally like I said in my first post?

A flat cage is the kind of cage you'll see the players in the NLL wearing. They used to be allowed in minor lacrosse in Ontario, but then the OLA decided to only allow them in Intermediate or Junior. When they're talking about the round cages, its basically the flat cage like in the NLL, just rounded at the bottom. Hopefully that clears it up for you

Thank you, now I understand, by flat they mean the bottom edge of the face mask.

Here's the intermediate cage I have on my box helmet, and i added a couple of my old flat cage to show the difference.

just as a heads up pockets..the way you have your int cage installed is illegal. I needs to be similar to a hockey cage. (1. needs to have a chinpiece attached to it, 2. needs to be able to flip up.)

I had it set up like yours, knowing it was illegal, thinking that no refs would even notice. But one zone game i got called for it, was given a 10, a 2, and couldnt play till i fixed it or got a new bucket.

...just as a heads-up lol

ya, I know its illegal, I played the whole season of midget with it like that, then in the warmup before one of our games in provincials the ref comes up and says I have to fix it. Other than that, No refs have said anything about it, although my team plays in zone 6, home of the most clueless refs ever.

thanks. also is the intermediate different in anyway from the junior?

ps nice 360.. liking the elite.

and what team you play for in zone 6?

well, the only difference i could see in the store between the intermediate and junior was that it looked like the junior would fit on smaller helmets, the cages looked identical, just a little difference in size. I did play for Clarington in zone 6, but for intermediate this year I'm trying to get a release to go play in Whitby maybe, or somewhere else nearby, cuz there's a few issues between me and one of the internediate coaches.

and I am also liking the 360 elite, it looks sick in black, goes with my tv I got for my birthday

arent they just like hockey helmets?? (coming from field player)

no they have less wires so you can see better. But the CLA (canadian lacrosse association) has banned the straight cages from minor ages (everything up to midget) So you have to wear these (in my opinion) ridiculously bad looking curved cages or wear a filed bucky.

I personally didn't like wearing a filed bucky in box last year but thats just my personal opinion. But no they have better vision then hockey helmets.

They're very similar. The cages we're talking about attach to hockey helmets. The Majority of box players up here in Canada use them because it gives better vision for when the ball if bouncing up in the air, and because there's no need for the visor on the field helmets when we're playing indoors.
