Anyone else hear about this?
Shaq traded to the suns in a simple 2 - for - 1 deal. I think this was an amazing trade for the suns, because if I'm thinking correctly they didn't really have a great inside player, and were using Amare (who i think is a better PF) and others as their centers.

Could go either way for the Suns. They lost a good player, gained a (possible) great post presence, but Shaq does not fit their style of play at all. Will be interesting to see how it works out.
I think it was a good move by Miami, they needed some younger legs.

Didn't the Heat get a draft pick too?

Nope, just Shawn Marion and some Banks guy.

I completely disagree I think this is such a stupid trade on the Suns' part. They got rid of one incredible player and one average player and traded them for an old, injured, former-allstar. Shaq was great in his prime, but at this late in his career Shawn Marion is much more valuable. On the flipside, the Heat got a fantastic trade, getting rid of an old guy who slowed them down and getting a fantastic player to complement Dwayne Wade in Shawn Marion.

I wouldn't call Marian incredible. Shaq has been "struggling" and he is scoring almost 15 points and grabbing 8 rebounds a game. While I am not necessarily saying I agree with the trade, or that it was a good trade for the Suns, but I am not throwing it out the window just yet.
They have been good for a while, with the same guys, but unable to win when it matters. Shaq has won championships in LA and brought one to Miami, he could be just enough to put the Suns over the top.

I think it was just a move that the Suns felt they needed to make because they saw that the Lakers gor Gasol. They had to give upMarion who I thikn is very under rated, but is having a pretty bad year so far. He can be a guy that gets you 20 and 10 a night with a few steals if he is on his game. Shaq won't be able to get up and down the court with that high paced SUns transition game. But, I do want to see the Diesel get back to his old self, plus he gets to play Kobe a few times now!

in the end it's a win-win for all parties. The suns get Shaq, who although not in his prime, will be a valuable weapon come post season, even if he doesn't get the minuts he's used to getting do to the Suns, run and gun style.
Shaq gets a last chance for a ring, where he obviously didn't have a chance in Miami this season.
The Heat get a big time 2nd option, which will also be able to add some youth to their team.
Marion supposedly pushed for a trade, so he will be fine with Miami, and they will be a legit contender again next year. Plus i think he only has 2 years left until he's a free agent so he can always relocate

thats a pretty biased and unfair statement. Many players shoot well over 50% and are fantastic players. To insinuate the players are poor athletes in their respective sports is preposterous. They are the best in the world at what they do and if people are willing to pay them tons of money to do so then more power to them.
Back on topic...
This really was a win, win for both teams.

well, if guys like veronalax could do better, then they wouldn't be on an internet forum complaining about it.
