I was browsing through Laxshopper and found this helmet.
Why can't they make facemask out Lexan? Do you think its strong enough?

It would get too scratched up first of all.

Is there any material that could be used?

I didn't know they made nalgene beer bottles. Last time I checked beer bottles were made of glass or cheap plastic (at baseball games).
Anyways, I dont think anything would work better for face masks then metal.

I don't really understand this artical but:

I think there both about the samething.
What about Polycarbonate, isn't that what they make bullet proof windows out of? Like those saftey-glasses lenses.
This here says that it is "Virtualy unbreakable".

I don't think it would sell well. People would be scared of it smashing, whether it could actually happen or not. Just the thought of a glass-like material shattering near my face is worrying.

i wouldnt want one. i feel like it would glare in the sun and would make breathing weird because of the fact that thered be no breeze blowing onto your face like a metal facemask and sweat and stuff would make it fog or get wet. i like the metal fine, i dont think anything else will do it better

Polycarbonate might work. It's what they make hockey face masks out of.

Use rainex :chuckle:
Someday the'll make facemask out of it. What if they just made the top part near your eyes like a visor, then the bottom part Ti?

The black part would be the outline of the visor. The black peice down the middle just shows when it starts to curve back. Also, ignore the backround part, I had to erease it.

so it would be like thoes half visor half cage hockey helmet things? might be possible but would fog up quick

Yeah, thats why I said use rainex =)
Football visors don't seem to fog up. Im sure theres some anti-fog thing.
