my steel 7000 snapped on me, so im saving up some money for a new pole. i am really convinced by the zirconium (stx). i searched and couldn't find exactly what i was looking for so heres my question: what is the weight of the zirconiums compared to another shaft. not like a titan classic or a dolomite, like a "middle class" shaft, for a middle schooler. i lift a bunch but want a light shaft, and y choice is a zirconium or a plat. alloy.
thanks,
bb12

I think the zirconiums are fairly light, I dont really know what its like compared to a plat. alloy but its probably pretty equal, but if i had to get one I'd get the zirconium, i personally like it more but its your choice. if theres a store near you where you could go look at both then i would suggest going there and seeing which one you like more

zirconium=beast

i had one as a d pole, and the most i got were scratches. then i cut it down (i got the D pole thinking i'd play D)

they only have the short pole one. the plat. alloy is almost as light as the kpro.

I would say an STX Axe or basically a C405 shaft would be probably a very good choice given your specified criteria. I CAN tell you that the Zirconium is definetly a step up from your 7000 Steel. I've always been slightly confused about which is better between the Zirconium and the Vanadium but perhaps you should look into a Vanadium as well. For the Intermediate Level the poles on my Middleschool team used C405 shafts [Once again like the STX Axe] There light and very strong. Good price too.

no axes are ok, i just dont want one. Is the zirconium lighter than a vanadium?

I'm not really thinking about the scandium, really only the two shafts i mentioned. thanks, and if you have a zirc. please post a mini reveiw of its weight and strength.

grab a vanadium. cheaper than the platinum or zirconium and i seriously think they hold up better because of the way they are shaped like a powergrip. if you don't mind the ridges on them then go with that.

My friends Zirconium has many, many dents in it. All not very hard checks either...

why would you ask about strength, and someone tells you about it and you just say strength doesnt matter?

i think the plat feels lighter and they are around the same price so i would go for that

I have both a platinum and zirconium as a pole. the zirconium is stronger in my experience and they weigh about the same. The zirconium is going to last you, especially if you dont play highschool yet. Ive broken many sticks and have yet to have my zirconium even dent. it did bend, but I just bent it back. I played highschool, MCLA and mens club league with it and its held up fine, so I say go for the zirconium.

Two of my friends have Platinum alloys and as i can tell, they holding up well, one of them has a big dent near the top, but it seams like a good shaft. and i would def go for a scandium if interested in one, very light and very strong... or you could try a K-lyte

ive been convinced, im going to get one, maybe two, iggy supra... it seems light, just hope it can hold up against alot of wrap chex and alot of takeaway chex, and alot slap chex i will be throwing ( know i should poke but that never works for me and i try to keep my scoop harmless for my gb's)

i've broken an iggy supra(along with countless other shafts) with my pole.
i have the (older, no tribal graphics) diamond pole and its a beast. the grip is better than the current diamond, its WAY light, and it has held up well to all the abuse its been though; thats plenty good enough for me.
i'd recommend investing in a stronger shaft, although it is more expensive, and you wont exactly need it at the middle school level, you will still be able to use it in high school because it'll last longer. plus you'll be one of the only kids with an awesome "expensive" shaft.

the stx has a more beefy grip, and more accented ridges. i dont no abt the strength but i hear its pretty good. i have played with platinum alloy, the ridges are less accented, but it still has a nice grip, is good an lite, and it is *****in strong
