I don't think the teams are quite right yet and I think there may be some blow outs early on in this testing period. Mainly due to the defferences in the second and third teir players.
I also think you will notice some big differences in the coaching that will cause some problems with uneven score lines.

Well, swanky was right there were 2 last quarter blowouts after being close for 3 quarters. But this wasn't so much to do with coaching I think it was more to do with the Devils and the Raptors missing quite a few of their listed players.
Personally I think it went ok for the first night with only a couple of inconsequential hiccups. Everyone working the cobwebs out and realising how unfit they are! Only two '2 pointers' were scored across both games. Personally i liked watching the Stig's play against each other and seeing Mat Taylor strip and destick Ryan G was great.
Anyway, for those who were watching/playing, what did you think. Feedback is wanted and appreciated! The more transparent this is the better it will be.
Cheers

As I said to you last night Cannon I think it was a bit to much like watching tennis, because the ball was turned over so regularly and bounced from end to end. This should sort itself out as player get use to playing with each other. There were alot of the second teir players being passed the ball from people like the Stig's but they weren't watching and didn't see the pass comming.
I know it is early in the year but the quality of shooting in Aus overall needs to be improved and hoopefully the turn over rule on shots that miss the cage will go some way to fixing this.
You need to get some one to do the shot and game clock that will pay due attention to it. At times the shot clock was not turned on until teams had already had posession for 20 seconds. There was also a time in the first game where the game clock was stopped while 2 goals were scored.
I think that the 20 second clear rule is probably not needed when you have the 45 second shot clock, and judging by the games last night it never came into play.
How about a rule that once the ball is goes into the offensive box it can not be carried out, come out unless it is turned over, is in uncontrolled play or a goal is scored. So once it is in it must stay in, like having a perminent stall rule.
I like the concept and suspect that most of the problems last night will iron themselves out.
Oh yeh I think the 2 point line is to close but if players can't hit the cage from where it is now it wont have an impact on the game.

Yeah the clocks need working out, game and shot clock. I guess everyone was at it for the first time so no sweat.
I thought it was good to watch, but yah not alot of quality stickwork going on there just yet!
The vibe was good and people seemed pretty interested in the rules as they played out.
keep it up

the turf really shows up bad stick work, 1 bounce and its out of bounds but it should make for a fast paced game once people blow out the summer cobwebs. at this stage I cannot walk my legs are f*ckedd (and 2 old). must start that pre season stuff Ive been (talking) about doing
In box the bench lets you know when there is 10 left on the shot clock this might help and let offence settle down a bit instead of all of those forced passes

So, we have listened to feedback and this week we are getting rid of the 20 second clear in favour of a full field 50 second shot clock.
See story here. (http://www.lacrossevictoria.com.au/index.cgi?det=1&intArticleID=1253&sID=8)
This week it is the Raptors and the Devils on for the early game and the Cavaliers Vs the Magic for the late game.
I hope to see you all there, be it playing or watching.
Cheers

cool little article. more of that colour needed in aussie lacrosse.
as for feedback do you have a form or anything to fill in?
==
i think you need to consider the following:
rules: make the 2 point arc more obvious.
have the umps let the games flow more
try the ncaa rule for face off violations
60 full field shot clock
other:
more entertainment
more music
voice over guy
better venue
maybe 3 teams instead of 4. there were some guys playing in the pilot
that i would not dream of paying to watch!
all in all, good work, but you have alot on your plate to get it where it seems you want it

i agree with most of that, 60 second shot clock is ridiculous though.

Cannon, is there any update son what's happening with this at the end of the year? Have a few guys around the club (and myself) intersted in finding out where things are at. Cheers mate.

Luba (and others),
Things are coming along nicely albeit a bit slowly. We presently have quite a few people involved who are not from lacrosse circles and the idea is getting a thorough workout. As noted above we got a lot of constructive feedback from Jan and we hope to have more info for you soon. Hang in there mate their will be an event soon to explain where it is at.
Cheers
