Ok so im a freshman in highschool...My brother graduated from the same highschool last year and he was on varsity all 4 years...he wasn't AMAZING but he was good and he was really popular...now im a freshman on varsity and i'm SUPPOST to be really really good as the word goes around the school...our first game is coming up this week vs the best team in the state...we always get CRUSHED...now i want more than anything....ANYTHING to lead the team to victory but im soo stressed out and i screw up under pressure all the time...what should i be working on these next couple days to get myself ready...also what kinda mindset should i have going into the game...i just need overall advice...pls help guys...

In your first game as a freshman, don't try to LEAD anything - especially against the best team in the state. If you are actually starting, just relax and do your job and focus on fundamentals. Be in the right place, move without the ball, pick up ground balls, etc. What you should be doing is listening to your coaches and captains and let them tell you what they expect of you. You'd be surprised that if you do your job and focus on fundamentals you'll play bettet than if you try to do too much.

If you do want to try to do something big to stoke your team up, you should make a couple of nice rides, and force turnovers. Ride like there is no tomorrow if you play attack. If you are on midfield, make sure you get every Gb off of faceoffs, and if you play pole, you may want to consider laying some people out early. Just don't lose you head.

As far as doing stuff between now and then, just make sure your sticks all throw good, and you aren't rusty. You really don't have time to make any big changes.

I know how you feel my brother was a 2 time national prep champ and everyone expects me to be as good as he was and this can be really stressing, but you just need to play as well as you can, and keep everyone elses expectations out of your head. And keep in mind that you're a freshman and people aren't going to hold you as accountable for your mistakes as they would for a senior

thanks a ton for the help....the thing is i really want to win against this team...and i feel if i dont do something we wont win...i KNOW we wont win...i just want to do something really good...but i think im just gunna chill this game...im gunna do my own thing and what i need to do...goo passes ground balls, ect. thanks a lot

im not cocky at all...lol i hate ppl who are cocky...i just wish i was really good...but the reality of it is that im not gunna beable to do what i want to do until senior year :(...thanks for the help guys ...i feel better
