if you had an irregular heart beat that would never let you play lacrosse ever again what would you do? cause that seems like what its boiling down to be for me.

my friend (plays girls lax) has that same kind of problem and she has decided to play. Its a personal decision that your gonna have to make, if lacrosse is truley your passion and you cant see yourself being happy without it then play... if not try to get involved another way such as stats, stick doctor (as mentioned above) or even as an assistant/student/coach of some sort

I have an irregular heartbeat too, it was discovered this past summer during a physical. I couldnt go to any camps or play in summer league and it was a real downer. I was at the doctors and the hospital at least 8-10 times in a matter of a couple weeks. Needless to say it sucked. After about a month of tests and then a month of waiting for the results, I was cleared to play(Still to this day have no clue why it took so long, they told me it would take about a week and a half before they got the results). During that time i became a pretty good stringer i watched a lot of games and practiced very lightly on my shooting and stuff. My advice to you is to contact your doctor and see what you can do about your heart, what tests you can take, and how long it will take to get the results. I thought i would never be able to play again, but it turned out okay in the end. I wish you good luck and I hope you are able to play again.

First you have to make sure your parents clear that decision, cause in the end, as long as you're still living off of their dollar, that's really their call. Pick up another sport, I know it's heart breaking, but there is still plenty you can do, non-contact sportswise (great phrase, I know), so don't let it get you too down. I had to quit wrestling cause my coach was a not-very-cool-guy, and that sucked, but that's life. The sports you are limited from are lacrosse, football, wrestling and hockey, with soccer on that list to a lesser extent. You could take up baseball, tennis, basketball, crew, possibly soccer, track & field, swimming, volleyball, golf, handball, and weight lifting. There are still plenty more sports you could try as well.

Are there any sports you are able to play?

If not, then coach.

There are different types of irregular heartbeats. There is no one on this forum able to diagnose which one you have or able to give you medical advice. If you're able to play or not is a conversation between you, your doctor and parents.

I had to have heart surgery for mine in '04 but it never stopped me from wrestling / lacrosse / baseball / football.

dont know the extent of it either hence why im getting so many tests. im hoping it doesnt lead to surgery. i dont want to completely leave lacrosse. so if im able to play limited then ill play goalie. and if im not able to play at all ill be a manager/coach/stringer/whatever they need me to be
