Ive been looking into farleigh dickinson university at the suggestion of my coach and have been going to the "winter" clinic there and have been doing ok. My question is when it comes time for actual recruitment if a d-3 school does not give out scholarships is it simply a commitment? and is it possible for someone with about a 94 (my schools gpa scale is retarded im sorry) to get an academic scholarship?... this isnt just for fdu really any D-3 school in general.. thanks for taking time to read and answer

I just Committed to a DIII school this fall.
While they DON'T give scholarships you'll obviously get money from FAFSA and need based stuff. If your getting recruited by the school they WANT you so they're gonna try and hook you up with as many Money grants as they can and if you really have the equivilant of a 94 you should definetly qualify for some upper-tier academic/merit scholarships. I got one a week ago for my GPA as well.
So bottomline while you WON'T get a scholarship for DIII you WILL get plenty of money knocked off of the total amount your gonna have to pay in the end so in a way its almost as good as a scholarship if not better because there are VERY few DI players that get scholarships and full-rides anyway...
hope that helped

At most schools you'll automatically be considered for academic aid money when you submit your application to the school. No additional paperwork is USUALLY needed.

Yeah like Startsy said they give you tons of grants wich they will only give out to lacrosse players so it pretty much is a scholarship but for NCAA rules they call it a grant. If you go D3 and your good you will probably end up getting more money to go there than you would from getting a d2 or 1 scholarship

^Exactly Bro!
But yeah about the Recruiting process...
It can be really exciting but what you really have to keep in mind is academics.. I got a lot of offers but there was only a few that had the Pharmacy program I wanted.
and YES you definetly should fill out a recruiting form for every team your interested in, the more the better. Hopefully the coach will start contacting you and you NEED to start compiling film NOW. For me every coach I talked to asked for film [You should put together about 2 to 5 minutes of solid highlights along with 2 COMPLETE game films. obviously pick your best 2 games.]
Usually they'll take a couple weeks to review your film.. then if they're still interested they'll probably invite you for an overnight visit which are awesome hahaha then shortly after you'll probably get your letter of commitment [which is about the order it happened for me]
This all happens usually a little after your Junior season ends going into your Senior year...
Good Luck bro! Its a little stressful but it feels so good knowing your gonna play somewhere once your Senior season is over.

Not exactly true. Aid is different from an academic scholarship. Typically for grants, loans, and need based scholarships you (re. your parents or guardians) must complete the FAFSA and perhaps Profile forms so the school can evaluate your (family) need. Unless you apply to a school early decision, financial information is submitted after you submit your application and before you know your admission status. "need blind" means there is no connection between your admission and financial status. If you are a Junior don't worry about this. It will be one of the last steps in your college search process.

thanks alot... im ok and keep getting better each season (its corny but thats how its worked for me) last year i started varsity as a sophmore and really its been my goal to play in college so i hope it all works out... thanks for all the advise! one last question though... if you dont have your official SAT (i took a "practice" one and got a 1750) should you use that on your player profile? thanks for everything i really appreciate this...and should i wait till this season and send them game film of this year? or give them sophomre film as well?

Rosie Who are you ive been at those same clinics and have been talking to coach scarpello about playing for his team. While they dont give you scholarships he told me that if i was to go there i would make the team. Im guessing basically its a commitment.

No You should just say that you haven't taken the SAT yet but that you intend to if they say anything, and then take it as soon as you can.
On a side note regarding your skills and stuff I'd recommend you do what I did and play for competitive clubs teams and do as much off-season play as you can against as good of competition as you can. Challenge the best player on your team to 1-on-1's after practice and stuff. You'll notice your development coming along greatly.
Back on topic just make try to take that SAT when you can. Definetly before the end of Junior year. If you do indeed get a 1750 that would GREATLY help your financial aid status and you'd probably see more money coming back to you in terms of grants.
As for the film, play through your Junior year and grab the all of the game films at the end of the year [my coach kept them all and let me copy and paste my highlights onto my DVD]. If you have some exceptional plays and stuff from your Sophomore year go ahead and put them in your 2-5 minutes of straight Highlights. Its also really important to give them those 2 uneditted games so they can see how you play in the context of a game. Lets say that you should mail this film to all the colleges your in contact/interested with around summertime. Lastly make sure to E-mail them your game schedule [your high school schedule and any off-season games you play in] because some will want to come out to see you.
I'd also encourage you to look at the rosters of the teams your interested in. I know I'll be playing at my University because they'll have only 3 other close defenders when I attend [...I should be able to beat out one of them... lol]
But yeah keep the questions comin' if you have more bro.
