I need some advice for my little brother (goalie) as well as my father who will be paying for the lessons. My brother has been been a goalie for 2 yrs now, (10 yrs. old) yr. round, indoor as well outdoor. Anyway, a D2goalie coach offered to give my brother lessons per hr. BTW, the coach is a real nice guy!! Is my brother too young for lessons or is he ok to begin them. We had 1 free lesson and the coach told my father, "he has quick hands for a 10 yr. old and he feels, he is a quick learner" Thanks in advance!

Age isn't the factor per say. If you're Dad is willing to fork over the money and you feel as though your brother could benefit then go for it (providing it's not a ridiculous about of money). Ask your brother if he wants to do it too.

He's not necessarily too young to work with a goalie coach. I see a decent number of goalies around that age at clinics and select teams working with the goalie coaches. For the most part the kids seem to enjoy it and improve. If your brother has the ability and enjoys playing the position, private lessons with a coach who knows his stuff won't hurt. Working on technique and getting better probably will make it even more fun for him.

the sooner he works with a goalie coach the better.

My father also signed up my brother to attend Greg Catranno's Goalie Clinics starting next month as well.

As long as he's enjoying it, that's an important part. My Dad paid for some tennis lessons my sister took, but it was basically a waste of money because she hated it. If you say the coach is a nice guy, then I can't see it being a problem.
