This is just to cover and discuss the game. and btw does anyone know if this is going to be broadcast in the baltimore area? ok well i think this game will be the first real test for syracuse this year. This is an important game because I don't see syracuse losing to army and then beating Virginia.ok thanks:dummy:

Syracuse SHOULD beat army.
IL ranked them as having one of the best recruiting classes this year.
I see that game ending something like 17-6.

Ok every one is predicting way to high. It should be a good game, but not by 8 or 9 goals.Army has a pretty good goalie and even coach desko said that they were going to have to place thier shot well in the paper.I think it will be a 11-9 syracuse.

If they don't beat army this week i can't see them winning against Virginia, so this is going to be an important game

army's starting goalie adam fullerton and the starting d are all back this year. this is the same d that held cuse to 5 goals last year. i doubt this will be a high-scoring affair, even with all of the new recruits that cuse has.

you were right about the first part where it wont be a blow-out, but i think you were wrong about the low scores. with these 2 defenses, especially sense 'Cuse's isnt great, the score will be higher, i say..'Cuse over Army 16-11

It is not, however, the same Syracuse offense. Syracuse has been playing like they've got something to prove so far this year, something they completely lacked the last 3 years.
Like I've said in just about every Syracuse thread I've posted in, if they show up to play, it'll be hard to stop them. I'm calling Cuse 12 Army 6
Edit: I really hope SU isn't looking at Virginia as of now, Army is still a dangerous team, especially if SU underestimates them.
It's playing on my local channel so I can give the score, updates all that during the game.

Also Army has a horrible offense and Syracuse has a new goalie as well as a new defensive scheme.

End of the 1st 1-1. Army has the speed and sticks to blow this game out but there making bad, slow decisions on the offensive end. Fullerton is playing very well though, 5 or 6 saves already.
Hardy is a tank, just ran through the core of their defense to the net but went in the crease, shot was saved anyways.

From what ive been seein on the stats Fullerton is having one heck of a game... or is the shot selection just bad?
its a mix of both. But Army just scored goal by Korvin.
Nieworski ties it up for Cuse from Hardy.
Syracuse's shortstick d's are really physical. But i'm gettin in the shower so someone else has to cover.

ok so im just gonna stop making predictions all together ebcause for some reason im just horrible at it haha. i called cuse for the win even though im rooting for Army. its prolly cause i feel for the guy on thier teams whos best friend got sniped over seas. but anyway this is what im seeing...
Army needs to improve on clears.
Cuse is getting nice offensive possesions but not finishing, even in close
Fullerton is stepping up HUGE!!!

Alright im back. Levielle scored dodge from x shoots low and scores. Syracuse 6-3
Army scores finishes on the crease for the easy score. Cuse up 6-4

Levielle again ? dodge from x for the goal again. ok wow as i was typing this levielle scores again off the fastbreak from jovan miller. Cuse up 8-5
I am really regretting not starting levielle on my fantasy team... he has 4 goals and an assist, maybe 2 right now

well my question is did army play really well or did cuse play bad or did both teams play well? because either army is better than many people expected pr cuse is not as good as they were ranked. Which is the case here? personally i dont think cuse is better than they were last season, but still not at there usual level IMO

I think Army's defense and goalie especially are underrated, but Syracuse didn't really play great today either. Fullerton played really well and Army's defense certainly confused Syracuse for the first half until Leveille started to work from x, but Syracuse was also not placing shots where they should have been (almost every one of Syracuses 40+ shots were high, including the good 8-12 shots that sailed into the stands, except for a few of Leveilles goals and Keoghs goal).

last week wasnt a fluke i think this was cuse offense just had trouble finding the net and fullerton played great when the opposing goalie is on and shooter are off its tough to win but cuse still won and that shows how good they really are although it wasnt a decisive victory its encouragin to know that they didnt even play well and still won

SU always has trouble against this Army defense. But after ther 1st half they figured out how to get a few goals it seemed. They would dodge then look back and pass and just kept doing that, which seemed to pick apart the Army D easier. But one thing I noticed about this game and warm ups was the SU team seemed to be more together and closer as a team and their is much more chemistry.

Does anyone who has been watching the games know how Sid Smith is doing? Is all the hype about him being a savior to the Syracuse defense justified?

Nah, Sid played today.
From what I've seen, he's doing really well. He's one of the more talkative guys on the field which is always a good thing (especially on d), he's been doing great at ground balls, has the stick work to really help on clears and when he slides, he slides hard. I wouldn't necessarily call him the "savior", because the d is still shaky at times, but he is definitely a huge help.

Ya he def. played but he played crease, which shows he is becoming a vocal leader. You can definatly see how the SU d has gotten better. They are sliding better and helping out more. Also like you said when SU is in a tough clear he can help along with Jovan Miller, Matt Abbot, John Galloway, etc.

Did anyone else notice Pat P.? He seemed to be moving much better this game and was really getting his dodges better this game. Also when Jovan was clearing it once and then dodged and made the Army player fall, and everyone went crazy, that was pretty sick. And another good thing was when he got the assist to Mike L.
