i recently tried shifting my pocket from a low to a high, by replacing which mesh diamonds i put the sidewalls through

it seemed ok, but range on the throw was badly affected, and whenever i shot i could never get it straight doing my usual follow through

i guess this is because it had crazy whip as i shifted the pocket up far too high, so i've moved it back down, but i was wondering how people use whip to their advantage

whip allows you to crank easier right? as i have had no problem with the ball coming out or anything with a low pocket - i find you can still get a major wind up on it

so what is the advantage of whip and how do you use it for ultimate shooting speed? the only way i could get accuracy is by stopping the stick about 90 degrees before usual, as otherwise it would fly off to the side

is there some sort of flick to release the ball straight at the end of the wind up?

Well whip is all preferance whther you like it or not. When playing with a pocket with whip I normally stop my follow through earlier. Or you have to aim higher than the target you're throwing to.

Whip is a matter of preference, like HovalLaxer said. Some claim whip allots for a faster shot. I did't believe it and have some calcs to prove it, in my mind. The only thing I know for sure, it seems to allow for more dramatic stick fakes. Some big dodger I know have nasty whip to allow for them to make more exaggerated stick movement.

I have seen and checked out Casey & Ryan Powell's stick, very little whip.

I LOVE whip, i have so much its hard for me to go a season without a head warping like crazy. I like to shoot sidearm and underhand, and with whip you can crank outside shots alot easier. Its also harder for a goalie to track the ball when you have a higher release point and everyone else has a lower release point, at least thats what my goalies told me. It gives pretty good hold, and you can throw some sick fakes with it. Although its often inconsistent and you have to work on it alot.

It's all preference like some others said. Personally, I don't like whip. I think it causes inconsistent shots. I also play X attack,so I need a quick release.

when you're shooting outside with whip, whats the best way to release the ball?

with the follow through i have at the moment it shoots off way to the side, so i cant see how whip gets you a better wind up if you have to stop the shaft early to prevent it going off target
