Well let me first off say that I typically eat well, get good rest and I am in great shape...

At practice I never get jello legs, and easily gassed. But before a game no matter what I start to fell fatigued, get the jello legs and play at 25%... I just don't understand...Am I not drinking enough? Today at our game I drank a liter or Gatorade and had a NutriGrain bar before (morning game).

Any suggestions?

DONT DRINK HATORADE! Way to much sugar and sodium try vitmen water. and the jello legs could be either your are nervous or you try way to hard in warmups but most likely it is because the gatorade. I drank like 3 or for bottles beforte my championchip game and all the sodium and sugars were way to much and i got also what you call "JELLO LEGS"

vitamin water has the same amount of sugar and sodium, if not more. You should only be drinking water before a game.

Yeah, Vitamin Water, or any of those drinks for that matter, aren't that great. Make sure you're hydrating yourself not only during the game, but well before the game as well.

Make sure you're getting enough carbs and protien too...maybe you were just out of fuel. A Nutri-grain bar isn't too much...

it's probably just your nerves. Was it your first game this season? I have similar problems, but once the game starts, it goes away really quickly.

I used to have the same problem when I got old enough so we could check in hockey. Although that was a long time ago, I remember the exact same feelings as you. For me it was just nerves, and after a few games it wore off, so maybe you just need some time to get used to it.

it is just nerves man don't worry, i got the same feeling for tryouts. It feels like you can't feel your arms, butterflies, probably just nerves. But, if you really aren't nervous and have played pretty often then i really would see a doctor. just to see whats up.

Make sure you're getting enough sleep, especially before a game. Fatigue can multiply the effects of nervousness.

Jesus, dude, an entire liter of gatorade is not exactly ideal. If this seemed like a rare occurence, it could have to do with all the sugar/salt that you dumped down your throat right before the game. If you take too much, it will wreak havoc on your nervous system, and actually have the exact opposite effect of pumping you up. It could be that, or, as other people have said, you were probably just nervous. I always got jello legs right before a match when I was a wrestler. I was always convinced my knee caps were going to snap in half and my legs would fall apart, but once the whistle blew and we got started, the feeling usually faded. Just get into the game as quick as you can.

just like wister said, too many high glycemic carbs like cereal bars and gatorade will increase your insulin levels quickly you'll crash aka " hit the wall". Try an apple or a piece of wheat bread with peanut butter an hour before the game.
