Second Traditional, Why are mine always so shallow?

Hey, so this is my second attempt at doing a basic traditional. I interlock correctly, follow tut correctly, and still for some reason its shallow.

The ball is usually a little under the top of the plastic, so approx. 2/3 of ball deep. Let me know what I should do!

Should i just go to a wall and wet/pound with it? I just strung it today and havent used it except for a little bit to check shooters.

If it a little shallow, try doing it with bigger diamonds.

Looks great. It might be the pic but the channel looks a little lopsided, but just pound that sucker and it will be good

everything looks pretty good as far as the fundamentals go though, what kind of string is that?

Its hard to do bigger diamonds cuz of the sidewall orientation of the stick, its like the holes are far away up top then like 3-4 of em are close

and channel isnt lopsided, i made sure of that, its cuz i tried to take pics with left hand and hole with right

and I will be wetting it and wall and pounding tomorrow after school

Is that crosslace? It looks kind of thick.

Your fine, especially considering it is your second go at it. Loosen the sidewalls a bit, pound the crap out of it, wet it down, knife trick it for a few days and your good.

You could also skips some holes on the sidewall if you want bigger diamonds.

thanks for all the input, i think i may try loosening the sidewalls but that can cause inconsistency right?

also, this is not x lace lol, i wanted white so i used shooter stuff

next time use athe knife and ball trick when stringing

i used that other tut, and the guy said not ball and knife but to string it like a racket then wet and adjust

I would ball and knife it, then you know the depth of the pocket rather than relying on the string to expand, which it wont always do!

I think it looks great. Hit the wall and the knots will tighten and everything will get a bit more lose and bag out a bit.

Alright, ima hit the wall after school today and throw around with a few friends

Also, im scared to ball and knife atm because the depth of the pocket is shallow that i fear knifing it may pinch the head or even snap it

i just ball knifed my way shallow pocket, and i ended up with a sick flared pinch, pretty cool haha

and u did that with sidewall string ur saying?

its not sidewall, its that shooting spool that jima sells

Use a ball and knife and string around it.

Channel looks a bit crooked but it might be the pic.

You do the ball and knife as you string, so you're stringing round the ball, so it gives you good depth.

Still looks good though!

Last time I did it with the ball and knife the pocket was crap, it was just deep in one spot and so the ball was basically stuck there

Should i string it too tight that time?
