sholderpads question

I have the stx choppers sholderpads, and i ahve a question about the padding that covers the bicept. I know that alot of other people on my teams pads dont have it, but i am wondering if i can just take it off?? will that hinder me at all?? what are the pros and cons?

I take mine off. Con: It dosen't really help to much when you get slashed. Pro: slightly better mobility

they just velcro off. a lot of kids take them off because they overlap arm pads
